[Bbm] Okay [Bb] guys,
[Eb] [Bbm] [Eb]
[Gb] so a couple months ago I bought this guitar and did a review on it.
This is the Amun Strat that I purchased originally for $47.
Now when I did that first review I was really impressed with the guitar in terms [D] of the
overall craftsmanship and the playability.
The one major downside to the guitar was the original pickups.
They were really really [N] weak.
So after a few weeks of having the guitar I decided to do an upgrade on the pickups.
But because this guitar was so cheap to begin with I didn't want to put anything really
nice into it.
I felt like if I put pickups in the guitar that were going to cost $100 or $150, it's
like well, what's the point of buying a cheap guitar [Dm] in the first place?
So what I did is I went on eBay and I found some really cheap rail style pickups.
[Bb] So these are basically a [F] humbucker pickup that's in a single coil size.
And I went ahead and [D] replaced the bridge and the neck pickup with [Dm] the same pickup.
Now these [D] pickups only cost a little bit more than $12 [Bb] each.
So even with these new [A] pickups the total price of the guitar is still under $75.
So now check out these before and after clips.
I've got some clips I used in the first review so you can listen to how [G] it sounds with the
original [D] pickups and then hear some new footage with these new pickups.
Something else I want to point out, [G] I actually left the middle pickup original.
I [F] didn't change that one.
I just changed the bridge [Bb] and the neck.
So I [D] can switch to the middle pickup and you can hear what an incredible difference it
[F] is in terms of the volume and the tone.
I mean the new pickups, [Bm] it's just a night and day difference.
So anyway, here are the clips.
Check it out.

Okay, so needless to say, I love the new pickups.
[Bb] It totally changed the overall tone and playability of the guitar.
Now [A] I will say, as much as I love these pickups, if you're looking for that really stratty,
kind of quacky kind of tone, the new pickups don't really have that.
That's basically because these are actually [D] humbuckers, humbucker style pickups, only
they're in a single coil size so you can fit them into a traditional strat pickguard.
But personally, I love the thicker tone that these give.
So a few of the things I want to mention, I was originally considering replacing the
entire pickguard with all new pickups and electronics.
But what I found out is that this pickguard is slightly different than a traditional [Dm] fender pickguard.
So some of the pickguards that you're going to buy that are meant to be swapped into [Bb] a
fender or even a squire might not exactly fit this.
The big difference [F] is in where the bolt holes are on the [Am] pickguard.
So you might end up actually having to drill a new hole into the body of the guitar, which
[Dm] not everybody wants to do.
Also because I'm installing new pickups, there is a little bit of soldering [Bb] involved, although
as pickup installations go, this is about as [F] easy as you can get.
The new pickups actually didn't come with any wiring [Am] instructions, so I'm going to go
ahead and include a few links to some diagrams [Dm] in the description box.
Also on my original video, a bunch of people keep [Bb] asking me to post a direct link to where
I [F] bought this guitar originally on eBay.
The problem is these guitars [Am] don't always stay in stock for very long, but they do come
up again and [Dm] again.
In fact, a few weeks after I bought this one, I saw [Bb] a similar guitar just in a different body color.
I think it was [F] white.
It was actually even cheaper than this one.
It was like $43 or something like that.
[Am] But my main point here is that you're just going to have to go back [Dm] on eBay and search
every few days or every week and just see what's available in terms of these [A] guitars.
Now I've had such a fun time playing and modifying this guitar that I'm going to use it as a
testbed for future modifications.
So down the road I'm going to be installing some new stuff, probably a kill switch and
maybe even a completely different neck.
I've been wanting to try some of the [D] scalloped necks that are available [Bb] from AliExpress or
on eBay, so stay tuned for that.
Okay guys, that's the latest on the Amun Strat.
Check out those dual rail pickups if you're looking for a cheap, easy upgrade.
Also, I hope I've cleared up any [N] questions about the availability of those guitars.
As always, thanks again for watching.
Stay tuned for more videos.
Don't forget to [Dm] subscribe and I'll see you soon.
