Okay, here's a quick tutorial for one of my favorite [E] all-time [Fm] Lennon songs, [Ebm] Working Class Hero.
Like most [D] of the best Lennon songs, the simple [Ab] ones are usually the best.
This one is pretty easy.
It's only got
[D] three chords in the whole song and
pretty much really just two, the [Db] third chord that
[G] is very rarely [E] played.
So [Am] the chords you're going to need are an A minor and a [G] G6
which is like, you know, just a G, but you're not [Em] playing the top E at all.
Okay, [G] it's just the bass.
[Am] The other chord you're going to [A] need is the
what's that, Dsus2
Dsus4, [Gb] Dsus2, I think it's pretty much the same, [G] which is, you're not playing the E, [D] open, open, second, third, open.
So those three chords, right?
[Abm]
So you've got that little intro, well, main riff that [Am] goes.
Right, so on A minor, [Ab] pluck the fifth string
[A]
[Am] down, up, down, up, and then on the fourth string, release it [E] and then hammer on.
[Am] Down, up, down, up, fifth, down, up, down, up, fourth, down, up, down, up, fifth, down, up, down, up,
fourth,
right, [Am]
just do that for a while.
Then when you do your G,
[G]
just play the
fret on the G string, E string, and back to the A minor [Am] again.
So it goes,
[G]
[Am]
Alright, [G]
[G] [Am]
when you get to this part,
[G]
A minor to the G, then bring in your Dsus2.
[D] So play the open fourth string,
down, up, [E] down, up, or you're fretting the Dsus2, [G] then back to your A [Am] minor.
And that's it.
[A] All right, you see you play that, you know, maybe five times in a row, or you know, five verses, however many there are.
[Am]
They hurt you at home, [G] and they hit you at [Am] school.
Hate you if you're clever, [G] and they despise [Am] the fool.
Till you're so fucking crazy, you [G] can't follow their [Am] rules.
A working-class hero [G] is something [Am] to be.
A working [G]-class hero [D] is something.
[E]
Anyway, you [Ebm] get the point, don't you?
Easy.
[G] A minor, [A] Gsinghs, Dsus2, [Eb] A minor.
That'll make it [E] any easier.
Apart from maybe imagine.
Well, even that's probably a bit harder than that.
So there you go.
Brilliant journaling song.
