[G] Here's a little tutorial for how to play I'll Follow [G#] the Sun, one of Paul's tunes,
[G] one of one that in fact he wrote very early on when he was like 15 or 16, I read
somewhere, in your front room.
It's a nice little short one, nice chords in it too.
The intro starts on C, [C] right, and play [G] the three finger C because you're gonna
need your pinky to make a C add [E] 9.
[C]
Just putting your pinky under [G] the third fret
second string, then an F major 7.
[F#] We'll just put those two fingers down one set
of strings, [F]
and
[C] then back up to the C.
So you get this.
[F]
[C]
C, [G] C add 9, [F] F major [C] 7, C.
F [B] major 7 might be called
something else, I don't know.
I'm gonna [G] call it F major 7.
Okay, now the intro, that's the intro.
First verse then starts on a G7 I think it is, but if you don't like the G7 or you find it too hard, just play G.
[G#] Alright, but I always play [G] G7.
The next chord [Bm] is an F7 [F] which is one of them.
So it's like F without
playing the fourth string.
[C] C, [D]
D, [C]
back to the C, then just play [B] the B over the [Bm] C.
Then [D] D, [G]
G7 again, and then just play the intro [C] bit again.
[F] [C]
So up to speed, [G] that goes like this.
One [F] day you'll look [C] to see [D] I've gone, [C] but tomorrow [Bm] may rain [D] so [G] I'll follow [C] the sun.
[F] [C]
Okay, you do [G] the same again for the next [F#m] line.
[G]
Someday [Bm] G7 [F] you'll know [C] F7, C.
I [D] was the one, D, [C] but tomorrow C.
[Bm] B over C, may [D] rain, D, [G] I'll follow G7, [C] the sun.
Instead of doing the intro bit again here, you'd go to a C7.
Just putting your [E] pinky onto the fourth [C] string, third string, sorry.
[Em] I'll follow [C] the sun.
Into [Em] the bridge, and you want a [D] D minor here.
[Dm] [F#] Into an F minor.
[Fm]
Nice [D] transition there.
[Fm]
[C]
Back to your C, and then your C7 again.
Alright, so it [D] goes.
And now the time has [Dm] come, [Fm] and so my love [C] I must go.
Again.
And now [Dm] I lose a friend, [Fm] in the end [C] you'll know.
Instead of doing the [G] C7 here, just go [D] back to a D.
Alright, so the bridge.
And now the time [Dm] has come, [Fm] and so my love [C] I must go.
C to C7.
And [Dm] now I lose a friend, D minor.
[Fm] In the end [G] you'll [C]
know.
C to [D] D.
And then just repeat the [F#] [G] chords from the verse again.
One day [F]
you'll find [C] that I [D] have gone, [C] but tomorrow [Em] may rain, [D] so [G] I'll follow [C] the sun.
[E] [C] And the intro chords again.
And you've just got a [G] solo bit with, again, just the same chords from the verse.
[F]
[C] [D]
But [C] tomorrow [Bm] may rain, [D] so [G] I'll follow [C] the sun.
Then you go to your C, and your C7 again.
Repeat the bridge again.
[D] And now the time has come, [Fm] and so my [C] love I must go.
And [Dm] though I lose a [Fm] friend, in the [C] end you will know.
[D]
And then again, [F#] just the first line [G] from the verse.
One day
[F] you'll find [C]
that I [D] have gone, [C] but tomorrow [Bm] may [D] rain, so [G] I'll follow [C] the sun.
And the intro chords until you resolve.
[F] [C]
And that's the whole song.
It only goes for a couple of minutes, but [Bm]
yeah, not too hard.
