Jam Along & Learn...
[B] It is video 7.
probably the last guitar video for a while.
of my system and change my shirt.
did all of them in a row in the middle of the night.
I've gotten in many arguments about what key a song is in.
And there's just basics.
A beautiful example is Evil Ways by Santana.
along with that.

[B] _ _ _ It is video 7.
This is going to be probably the last _ _ guitar video for a while.
I'm going to start doing some bass stuff, but I wanted to get all this stuff out of my system _ and change my shirt.
But I did all of them in a row _ in the middle of the night.
_ _ _ I've gotten in many arguments about what key a song is in. _ _ _
And _ _ _ _ _ _ there's just _ _ basics. _ _
A beautiful example is _ Evil Ways by Santana.
I'm going to play along with that.
_ _ _ Type in YouTube, Evil Ways.
_ There's a tiger on the front, _ _ _ _ a black and white picture of a tiger.
_ Evil Ways is nothing but a 2-5. _ _
_ _ It's G minor to C. _
When somebody calls out and they say, in G minor, yeah I know that the first chord is G minor, but it's not in the key of G minor.
G minor is relative to B [Ebm] flat.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ If the [B] two _ chords in the song, except for one _ chord at the end of each verse, which is a D7,
but if the two main chords are a G _ _ minor 7 to a C, that's a 2-5.
The C is the dominant _ _ 7th kind of chord.
_ And it makes you in the key of F.
_ I have seen _ _ _ _ _ _ _ transcripts and this in song books, and they keep putting it in B flat
because the guy is _ too stupid to understand that it's not in the key of G minor.
_ Every time you have a C chord there, you're going to have to alter the_
Well, B flat is _ _ _ _ two _ flats.
_ _ _ _ Anyway, _ _ _ B flat and E flat.
You're going to have to alter the E flat every time you go to a C chord and make it an _ E natural. _
If you write it in F, you'll never have to do that because the chords are natural to the key of F.
In fact, that's the only _ key that G minor and C exist in, is the key of F.
So you're going to use the F major scale to solo over it and nothing else.
Anybody that tells you that any different is in the key of G minor has no idea what they're talking about. _
Talk to any bebop guys, this is a 2-5 in the key of F.
2-5 is bebop _ all over the place.
2-5 is all jazz is essentially.
Just a ton of 2-5s, okay? _ _
_ _ So in _ _ _ _ _ this, we've done this before, but you can use your G blues scale over _
[Bb] _ _ _ _ [C] _ _ _ [Gm] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [B] _ _ the G and the C,
and then the F major scale, [G] _ _
[C] _ _ _ _ _ _ which we [B] just used on _ Susudio.
So I'm going to jam along with it [Bbm] for a minute and give you the [B] general idea,
and then _ [E] I'm essentially done with [Bb] these kind of lessons,
_ and I'll see if anybody _ _ _ _ asks me to _ play any solos or learn any songs.
_ _ _ I will occasionally do what I did on that ZZ Top thing and learn licks,
and show you licks that _ [B] _ I always want to learn,
and then when I learn them, I realize that everybody [Cm]
else is,
most of [B] these guys are playing them wrong,
and I don't know until I actually sit down and learn them,
so maybe I can learn some licks for you guys if you can't figure them out.
But _ all you have to do is respond. _
Okay, so I'm just going to jam along with Santana for a little bit,
_ _ _ using the major scale and also the blues scale, and [Gm] we'll just see where that goes.
_ I'm going to have some fun here. _ _
_ [C] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[Gm] _ _ _ [C] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [Bb] _ _ [F] _ _ _
[Bb] _ _ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _
[C] _ _ [Bb] _ _ _ [C] I'm going to play the [Gm] blues.
_ [C] _ _ [Bb] _ _ _
[C] _ _ _ _ _ Oh, I [F] don't know
_ [Bb] If I can get it [C] to be
[G] _ _ [C] _ Something [Gm] _
_ _ _ [C] _ I've never [Gm] _
[C] heard [Gm] before
_ _ _ [C] _ _
[Gm] _ _ _ Well, _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [C] _ _ _
[D] _ _ _ _ _ _ [Bbm] _ _
_ [Gm] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [D] _
_ _ _ _ [C] _ _ _
[Dm] I [Gm] know
_ [C] _ [Bb] It's [C] a strange thing
_ [Am] _ [G] _ _ _ [C] _ _ _
I [F] know
[Gm] It's very strange
[C] _ _ _ _ It's _ [Dm] _
[Bb] _ _ [C] a strange thing
[Gm] _ _ _
[C] _ _ _ [Gm] _ _ [C] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[D] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [Gm] _ _ _ [C] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [D] _ _ _ [G] _
[C] _ _ [Gm] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [C] _ _ [Bb] _ _ _
[C] _ _ [Gm] _ _ _ [C] _ _ _
[Gm] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[C] _ _ [Dm] _ _ [Gm] _ _ [C] _ [Gm] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[C] _ _ [Gm] _ _ _ _ [C] _ _
[Gm] _ _ _ [C] _ _ [Gm] _ _ _
[C] _ _ [Gm] _ _ _ [C] _ _ [Gm] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[C] _ _ [Gm] _ _ [C] _ _ _ _
[Gm] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[C] _ _ [Gm] _ _ _ _ I know
_ It's [C] _ _ [G] _ a strange [C] thing
_ [Gm] _ _ _ _ [C] _ _
[Gm] It's strange
_ It's _ _
_ [C] _ _ _ _ _ _ [Gm] _
_ _ _ [C] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Gm] very _ [C] strange _
[Gm] _ _ _ [C] _ _ [G] _ _ _
_ [Bb] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [B] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [Bbm] _ _ It's very strange
I don't know where they are
_ _ _ [Cm] _ [G] _ _
_ Then I move up here and I got [Cm] this
_ _ [Bb] _ _ Then I'm back down to my blues scale
_ _ _ _ [G] _
_ _ _ _ I didn't even know this [C] here, [G] too
_ _ _ _ [Bb] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Cm] _ _ _
[G] _ _ That's kind of like a [B] transitional thing in the middle
I love G, [G] because it gives me all kinds of things
I'm back up to the blues [Bb] again _ _ _ _
_ _ [Cm] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [Bb] _ _ _ _ _ [B] F major scale [G] again
_ _ _ And I do these little arpeggio things backwards
_ _ [F] _ [Bb] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [F] _ _ [G] _
_ [D] _ [G] _ _ _ _ _
[Eb] That's opening up the four note _ _ chords
_ But doing them backwards on the F major scale
_ _ So with that, _ _ _ I'm out _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [N] _ _
This is going to be probably the last _ _ guitar video for a while.
