Hey guitar buddies, let's check out Kim Karn's Betty Davis Eyes
Okay, so it starts with these three chords repeated for the intro
[Dm]
[C] So what we got there is a B flat 9
[Bb]
So B flat on the first fret [F] and I'm playing it.
I'm kind of playing B flat and F [Bb] together
So 1 & 3 [Am] and then picking
[F]
Arpeggiating
Down from F on the first fret C or the first fret
[Bb] and B flat or the third fret
[E] And you may recognize that as the opening chord
[F] Purple rain there you [Bb] go
[Dm]
Now play a D minor
[D] So again, I'm just playing
two notes on the
4th strings the 5th fret and 7th fret D and A
Then a D with my finger on [B] 7 and an F [D] on 6
[Bb] So [Dm]
[C] I just finish in with a standard C chord third position
[Bb] [Dm]
[Bb]
[D] [C] And just repeat that four times for the intro let's do the verse I'll play it then break it down
[Dm]
[F]
[E]
[Dm] [Cm]
[Am] [F]
[Cm] [F]
[Dm]
[Bb] [C]
[F] [F]
[G] Okay, so the verse starts just like the [Bb] intro
[C] [E] B [E] flat 9 D minor C.
Then we've got
[Bb] [F]
[E] B flat 9
Same as the start then going [C] to C
Csus4 so I'm playing 3
so 3 and
5 5 and 6
[C]
And just mainly picking
C
C and F 3 5 6
to get the [F] arpeggio and
[C] [F]
Then go into an F
[Bb] so the first two sequences
[Dm] [C]
[Bbm] [F]
Then we've [Em] got the first sequence [Bbm] again
[Dm]
[C] B flat 9 [B] D minor C.
Then we [F] play an F [C] so 8 10 [F] 10 10
[Am] [B] Then an F with an A in the [Gm] bass, so I'm playing the A [A] as an open A
and then just playing
[Cm] 1 or the B string first C A
[N] 2 on the G string F
3 on the D string to give us the F chord with an A in the [Am] bass.
[F]
[F] So that first section
[Bb] [C]
[Bb] [F]
Oops, [Bbm] [Dm]
[C] [F]
[Am] [Dm] [C]
so then after that F with [Eb] an A in the bass we're straight back into
[Dm] [C]
opening sequence B flat 9 D minor C and
[A] Then the next one it's a B [F] flat 9 C D minor
[Dm]
[Bb] So I'm playing
[Em] Just a regular [C] C this time
[Am] not a [F] Csus4
[Dm]
then ending on a D minor then
[Bb] [Dm]
[Cm] B flat 9 D minor C again and
[Em] Then I go up to the 13th position
[F]
and play 13 on the
bottom E string
gives us an F then
13 on the B string for C then 14 for an A
[Eb] then
15 for an F [F] and then I move
[N] Move my first finger down to the 11th fret to get an E flat.
So we've got an F with an E flat in the [F] bass
Okay
So I'll just play that all through once more slowly
[Bbm]
[Dm] [C]
[Bb] [C] [F]
[Bb]
[F]
[Am] [F]
[C]
[Bbm] [Dm]
[F] [Dm]
[C] [F]
Okay, and then we're into the chorus chords [Db] which are simply [Dm] just drummed
D minor [F] F
[Bb] B flat F
[Dm] Same again D minor F
[F] [Bb]
B flat F
Then we've [Bb] got B [Dm] flat D minor
[C] B flat D [C] minor
So a C and then we're [E] into the intro so it's a
[Dm] [F]
[Bb] [F]
[Dm]
[Bb]
[F] [Bb]
[C]
[F]
Okay, so that's first chorus and intro so that's the song basically have fun

[F] _ _ _ [F] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [G] Okay, so the verse starts just like the [Bb] intro _ _
_ [C] _ _ _ [E] B [E] flat 9 D minor C.
Then we've got
_ [Bb] _ _ [F] _ _
_ [E] B flat 9

_ [Dm] _ _
[C] _ _ B flat 9 [B] D minor C.
Then we [F] play an F [C] so 8 10 [F] 10 10 _ _
_ [Am] _ _ [B] Then an F with an A in the [Gm] bass, so I'm playing the A [A] as an open A
and then just playing
[Cm] 1 or the B string first C A
[N] 2 on the G string F
3 on the D string to give us the F chord with an A in the [Am] bass.
_ [F] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [F] So that first section
[Bb] _ _ _ _ [C] _
_ _ [Bb] _ _ [F] _ _
_ Oops, [Bbm] _ _ [Dm] _
_ [C] _ _ _ [F] _ _
[Am] _ _ _ [Dm] _ _ [C]
so then after that F with [Eb] an A in the bass we're straight back into
_ [Dm] _ _ [C] _ _
opening sequence B flat 9 D minor C and
[A] _ Then the next one it's a B [F] flat 9 C D minor
_ _ [Dm] _ _ _
[Bb] So I'm playing
_ _ [Em] Just a regular [C] C this time
_ [Am] not a [F] Csus4
_ _ [Dm] _ _
then ending on a D minor _ then
_ [Bb] _ _ [Dm] _ _
[Cm] B flat 9 D minor C again and
_ [Em] Then I go up to the 13th position
[F] _ _ _ _
and play 13 on the
bottom E string
gives us an F then
13 on the B string for C then 14 for an A
_ [Eb] then
_ 15 for an F [F] and _ _ then I move
_ _ _ [N] Move my first finger down to the 11th fret to get an E flat.
So we've got an F with an E flat in the [F] bass _

_ [Dm] _ _ [C] _ _ _
_ [Bb] _ _ [C] _ _ [F] _
_ _ _ _ [Bb] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [F] _
_ _ [Am] _ _ [F] _ _
_ [C] _ _ _ _ _
_ [Bbm] _ _ _ [Dm] _ _
_ _ _ [F] _ _ [Dm] _
_ [C] _ _ _ [F] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ Okay, and then we're into the chorus chords [Db] which are simply [Dm] just drummed
D _ _ minor [F] _ F _
[Bb] B flat F _ _
_ [Dm] _ Same again D minor F
[F] _ _ _ [Bb] _
B flat F _
Then we've [Bb] got B [Dm] flat D minor
_ [C] _ B flat D [C] minor _ _
So a C and then we're [E] into the intro so it's a
[Dm] _ _ _ [F] _ _
_ [Bb] _ _ _ _ [F] _
_ _ [Dm] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [Bb] _ _ _
[F] _ _ _ [Bb] _ _ _
