[Ab] This is [Bb] Future Sound.
[Db] [F] [Ab] [Bb]
It's time [Ab] to zap into the world of [Eb] Munchausen by proxy.
This [Fm] quartet of lady rockers has quite [Bb] a story.
[Ab] Get ready for their past, [Eb] present and future.
[F] [Bb]
[Ab] [Eb]
Our band called [Fm] Munchausen by proxy [Bb]
is just [Ab] so over the top.
No female in her right [Ebm] mind would have that as a [F] band name, so why not make it ours?
[Bb]
My spiritual guide [Ab] mentioned to me that [Eb] at some point I was going to meet three [Fm] women.
And when I walked into [Bb] that studio, I felt this [Ab] overwhelming positive energy.
And I sat down [Eb] behind the drums and I [F] prayed as I [Bbm] usually do.
And all of my wishes came [Bbm] true.
[Ab] There was one magical [Ebm] day where we were just [Bbm] jamming.
That's the day we realized we [Bb] could be bloody and have fun.
But things weren't always so happy-go-lucky for this quirky quartet.
[C] You
[Db] can't begrudge her for getting in the moment, but when you're standing there [Am] with a keytar in [Bm] hand and nothing to do, [Db] it gets a little [E] old pretty quick.
[Cm]
[C]
I [F] am actually [E] really into the keytar solos.
I was [F] a big supporter from day one, and I [F] think they should be longer.
[D] [Bb] [F]
[E] You can't really go tap her on the shoulder in the middle of the show, [D] but we sure talk about it after the show.
Nothing you can do about it now.
[Dm]
I gotta say, it was definitely hard the first shows when there's five people in the crowd.
[G] I mean, five [Gm] people is a lot of people.
So I think that I'm kind of into [Dm] that.
[D] It's way better than the practice phase where there's no people.
[G] But we got [C] our costumes on and we look [A] great, and by God, we're going to make it [D] happen.
It's kind of all about the costumes, actually.
We thought [C] for each [G] song, [Am] we would have a different [D] look.
[Dm] [N]
And they took that fashion with them to outer space for their first music video, Uh-Huh.
[D] I should have been the one to break up with you, you [C] said, who are you?
[F]
[D] That video was sort of the turning point for Me [C] Chosen by Proxy.
I had no [F] idea that it would catch on like it did.
[D] When people saw that video, I think it changed some [F] lives.
Who are you?
[D] I trip my shoulders and I say, what [C] else you said, who [Ab] are you?
[D] The [C] video, [Dm] it was great.
People caught on and [C] loved it.
And next thing we [Am] know, at shows, [G] people are singing [F] along.
It's kind of [D] a trip.
We started, I mean, conventions across [D] the country.
[C] Any kind of science [Am] fiction [G]
convention, [F] we had an open invitation [D] and we were very excited about that.
I mean, I think that's when we [Db] felt like we'd [C] actually made it.
We had done [F] it.
They were playing some geek [D] convention or something.
Lord knows how they got [G] poked on that.
I [C] mean, it wasn't even [F] a show at a club.
I just sent Jonathan down to [D] the convention, you know, on a lark, see what happens.
And he came back with the [C] Proxy contract in hand.
You [F] know, they were just amazing.
[D] Jonathan liked our funky, soulful, sci-fi sound.
I'm the star.
You're the [C] star.
I'm the [A] star.
You're the star.
[C] Of the [A] keytop.
[C] The line's awesome.
[G] Life on the road, you know.
It's kind of hard.
Allison always shows [Bb] up late.
Allison should be here any [Ab] minute.
Hopefully.
[D] So it gets a little stressful, but, [A] you know, we hold it down.
We rock out.
That's part of the whole [F] job.
[E] [D]
[C]
[G]
[Am] It means a lot, [F] you know.
A lot of the times, the lyrics, either Allison or I write, are [E] very [D] cathartic.
So when you're putting out there all the crap that you've taken in from the [C] day,
and then you see other people relating to that, it means a lot.
[Bm] We [Am] realized that we were affecting people, and we realized that the lyrics [F] could change the way people think.
[C] [Bm] [Am]
[A] [F]
If it changed people's lives for the better, that [E] would be great.
[D] From novelty, to music, to message,
[C] Munchausen by Proxy has evolved into something very [Bm] different than their humble [A] [Bb] beginnings.
[Db] And it ended up [Fm] becoming [Ab] fun, and it was fun [Bb] to get to [Db] be a part of [F] that creative process.
Four [Bb] random people coming together.
You never [Ab] knew what magic would come out of it.
So look where we are.
It's [Bb] great.
Munchausen by Proxy sounds like the future to me.
And I'll see [Eb] you in the future.
Next time, on Future Sounds.
