Well, I offered to do a video to show you how I would play this song
I
noticed that when Neil Diamond
Has performed this live.
He doesn't start with the same little
higher
Little lick there, but
He might have been the one playing it on the record, but could have been a studio guy too.
It doesn't really matter
When I I normally play my
Open a the cowboy a like this with three fingers put my middle finger on the D string
Ring finger on the G string and my little finger on the B string but
when I'm doing a song that's going to require the I
switch my middle and and
Index fingers and I [Bb] put the index on the G
middle on the D
And
Ring finger on the B [Bb]
and play it like this
Something [F] it's sort of like James Taylor plays his except [Bb] he kind of does his almost [F] totally backwards like this
He puts his ring finger on the D string.
I can't play that [Bb] way
So I do this so that you can get them see the the a the a sus
[F]
the a
Adnan or a to
Here's what I would do for that song.
I'd go something like this
[Bb]
[Eb] [Bb]
[Cm] and then for [Eb] like the D and
[F]
[Bb]
[F] You know, I would just basically do that.
It's kind of like my own take on how to play finger [Bb] style acoustic
Sometimes you can [Gb] do this to get that high a in there put your bar [Bb] the first four strings
with your index finger and then put your pinky up on the
sixth fret of the E string
[Fm] Be the fifth fret if you did it with that without the capo on I have the capo on here
So I'll be in the same key as [Bb] as the record.
All right now in the in [Eb] the course I am I said
instead of playing
[Ab]
The D sus there [D] what is happening there is the guy is playing a D
[Eb] sharp 11
[Eb]
At least the vocals are doing I mean the strings are doing that in the background and if you want to
Kind of be authentic to the record
You can you can play that
[Bb]
[F]
[C] Basically, it's just a matter of getting you know, the technique of the finger picking down under under your [Eb] fingers
[C] It this would be a [Eb] true arpeggio
something like that when you if you go
[F]
You know, it has
Elements of arpeggio in it, but it's really more or less just a riff or [Eb] a lick
[F]
[Gm] [Bb] [Bb]
[Gb] And so, you know, that's why I did this video to kind of give you an idea of what you can do to
to
You know play [G] in the style
of that particular
Recording.
I hope
