'I'm A Believer' The Monkees Beginner's Guitar Lesson chords
Start Jamming...
Hey there guitar buddies, well I've only got a trapped a nerve in my right shoulder so whilst I'm recovering
I'll do some short simple lessons for beginners.
This is a great one.
It's the monkeys.
I'm a believer
[F]
[G]
[D] [G]
[D] [G]
[C]
[G] [C]
[G] [C]
[G] [D]
[G]
[C] [G]
[F]
[A] Okay, so that was the intro verse chorus there so we start with this intro [D] C D [C] F [F] C D F C D F
So that's on the A string
3 5 and 3 on [D] the D string
[F]
[C] I'm just playing that as a hammer from the C to the D
[D]
Just playing the C [C] picking the C [D] hammer into the [F] D and then picking the F
[N] Okay, and then our chord sequence is nice and simple for the [G] verse.
We've got G
[D] to D
to [G] G
then again G
[D] D
[G] G
then to a [C] C
[G] back to G
[C] C
[G] G
[C] C
[G]
G
[D] D
Stop and into the chorus.
[G] So for the chorus, I'm just playing
[C] [G] [C]
Just going from a G to a C
[G]
[C] [G]
[C] [G] [C]
[G] [C] [G] [C]
[G] [C] [G]
So [C] then after the final C just before I'm in love we go I'm [G] in love so then we've got a G Love
Then a [C] C so single [G] strums
[C]
C back [G] to G
[F] back to F and
then
[D] We play our riff which we opened with and that can be played over a D chord
You know, so you can either play the chord or the riff
[G]
[C] [G]
[F]
You know or play
[G]
[C] [G]
[F]
[F#] Okay
And then there's a solo in there that's not played on the guitar
But if you want to learn it for the guitar the chords for the solo are just [G] G
[D] D
[G] G
G
[D] D
[G]
G
Okay, just like the verse and then we've got
[F] [D] [G]
[D] [G]
[Am] So I'm [G] playing a G
twice on the fifth fret of the D string
[Fm] F on three
[D]
two D's on five on the fifth fret of the
A string or you could [G] play open
[Dm]
[G]
However, you prefer to play it.
It's entirely up to you
[Dm] [D] But I like to play on [G] five it kind of feels like you've got more control
[Dm] so five five three five [D] five and then we go
five three [G] four five
[Dm] Five three five [G] five three four five
five [Dm] three four five [A] three
[D#] Four if you follow that it's just basically [Dm] or when you go up you play a passing note an F sharp
But you don't play it when you go down
[G]
[F#]
[Dm] Then it repeats.
So if I play it slowly, it's probably easier to [A] follow
[G]
[F] [D]
[G]
start [F] again
[D]
And then this last one is the same until the very end few notes
[F#] [D] So we're playing again
[F#m] Df [G] F sharp G five [F#] three [G] four five
[Dm] five three five
[G]
[Dm] And back up five [F#m] three [G] four then GG FG five five three five
[C] [G]
And [G#] we're back into the
[C]
That's [G] the way it seems that [C] section
[G] Disappointment is always [D] in my dreams and into the chorus
So it's a nice simple song to learn [N] nice easy chords great tune and hopefully I'll be back with some longer lessons soon
But in the meantime, let's have some fun with some beginner stuff and that was the monkeys.
Thanks buddies
