[Bb] I will always love [N] you, the Leroy Sanchez version.
I'm going to go over some chords and some techniques that he uses in [Db] his version.
First of all, you're going to tune your guitar down one half step, and you're going to capo
on fret four.
This is a technique that is done by a lot of acoustic players now.
It's to take a little bit of the pressure off of the strings [Gb] so that they aren't as
hard to hold down and [G] to manipulate your chords around.
Your strings should sound like
[C]
[F] [Bb] [Gm]
[Db] Now let's go over the chord list.
Your first chord is going to [Eb] be a C, but it's going to be a C with a G and a bass.
So your regular C chord, as you know, is as follows.
This time you're going to do this.
So put your third finger on the [N] sixth string, third fret up from the capo.
Pinky on the fifth string, third fret.
Second finger on the fourth string, second fret.
Your third string, of course, is open.
Your first finger goes on the second string, first fret up from the capo, [Eb] and your first
string is open.
You've got that.
It gives you a bigger C sound, obviously.
Leroy does this C to F riff.
Your first finger is going to remain stagnant.
It's going to remain on that first fret, second string.
We'll go over more of this in the [N] full tutorial.
So what he's doing [G] is leaving this finger [Ab] anchored down.
[Eb]
Now if you find [E] that hard to do, because you have to [Ab] plant your fingers down first, [Eb]
go very slow.
Take this [Ab] F chord with C and a bass.
[Eb]
Start with just the second [C] finger,
[Ab] then add more of the chord until you have all four middle strings.
[Eb]
Get used to that riff.
During the intro, it's a little softer [Ab] so you don't have to work quite as hard.
[Eb]
So C, [Ab] F.
[Eb]
Then he's going to go to [B] A [Cm] minor, regular A minor [Gm] form, E minor,
[Ab] F.
This time
he's going to put his thumb down on the sixth string to get that low F note, and then up
[Bb] to G, and he turns the whole way around for his G.
He doesn't do the old school G.
He's
going to turn his hand completely around.
So those are the chords for the intro.
[Eb]
[Cm] [Ab]
[Bb] [Eb] Once we get to the chorus, then you're going to go C.
[Cm] [Ab]
[Bb] [Eb]
What [N] he does there is he arpeggiates
the chords, keeping this first finger as a common tone.
So [Eb] C, [Cm] A minor, [Ab]
F, [Bb] [Eb] G.
C, [Cm] A minor,
[Ab] [Bb] G, [Eb] [Cm]
[Ab] F, and back to [Bb] G.
Then he goes into an interlude [Em] section after the second [Eb] chorus.
This cool little trick where he's got the pinky down on the C chord, [Cm] the A minor chord.
[Ab] The F is normal, and [Bb] so is the G.
[Eb] [Cm]
[Ab] [Bb]
Okay I'll be back with the full [A] tutorial in the next video and [Bm] run through the whole song.
I will see you soon.
