[Bbm] [Ab] [Db]
[Gb] [Db] [F] Hello, I'm John.
How are you?
[Gm] Learned that with the butter people, you know
I mean that was corporate [C] and [Gm] when they made that offer that was seemed like the most anarchistic
Challenging thing [Dm] ever presented before me
But when I sat down and talked to them they gave [G] me a free hand and the whole thing seemed great fun
And it actually promoted [F] British industry
[A] And here [Ab] this is this is a extremely efficiently [Eb] well run
I used to come to Glastonbury when I was like [Ab] 13 and 14 and 15
And it was very very different [Eb] and I loved the atmosphere then and I thought that that was impossible to
Encapsulate and in this span in this scale
But the place has done well all the bands backstage are getting on with each other.
There's no competition in it
There's none of that usual hate spying greed and fighting over who's [Cm] where on the bill
Quite quite excellent.
[Eb] We used to appeal our audience, you know, who know us well and we know them
When we walk go on stage we feel the warmth.
This is a new crowd for me and I felt the wall straightaway
And that just makes you work so much better
It's such a better [Cm] comfort zone to be in and that's the [Ab] world
I've been fighting for now for what [Eb] 30 plus years.
It's very good to see it's
[Cm] It's inevitable one planet one [Ab] world
[Eb] I've been talking [Ab] to a lot of people and they seem quite [Eb] happy to be
Wandering [Ab] around and then let let the wind blow them this [Eb] way and that [Bb] yeah, there's a [Ab] sense of freedom in it
[Eb] It's less the [Bb] cattle shed [Cm] mentality.
[Eb] It's a pleasure to do a [A] song like rise today because of a
Nelson [Ab] Mandela being ill that's a [Eb] song I wrote some, you know [Bb] 20 [Ab] plus years ago about Nelson [Eb] Mandela and the [Bb] South African
police [Ab] torture techniques
[Eb] So it's very [Gm] poignant for me to know, you know [G] if the fella dies, I hope he goes to the proper [N] place
So, you know, I was that song was speaking from one friend to another
[E]
III don't throw political slogans about [A] these are true beliefs [Em] in life
[Ab] I'm not here to hide and you [Bm] know, come on John.
I'm one of the [D] people I'm [Ab] gonna be out there
Going mentally [D] must drop away
Okay, I shall fight everything illegal and do it real well and not get nicked because I am John
