"Is This Ever Going To Get Better?" -- Ricky Horror of Motionless In White chords
Start Jamming...
I'm Ricky Horror from Motionless in [A#] White and you're watching Heart Support.
[F#] [F]
[A#m] [F#]
You know, when I was [C] younger, before I joined the band, I had a really [F] bad bout of depression.
And [A#] I tried to commit suicide when I was 21.
[F#] In hindsight, I don't [C] know that I necessarily tried.
I think that it was more just like, [A#] this is my only way to say I need help.
[F] I don't know what else to do.
[F#] This is my out.
Everything in my life changed so [C] drastically when I joined the band.
But my thoughts still stayed so much the same.
And [A#] I was like, is this [E] ever going to get better?
Am I [F] ever going to feel any different than I did [G#] five years ago?
Am I ever going to get out of [D#] this hole that I feel like I've dug for [F] myself?
I think the [D#] only cure to any type of mental [F] illness, I guess I shouldn't say any [F#m] because there's a lot of variety,
but especially dealing [A#] with depression, I think [F] a lot of it comes from figuring out,
again, who you [C] are as a person and trying to determine your self [F#]-worth
and really [C] trying to fight to believe that you are worth something
[F#] and you have [D#m] so much more to live [A#] for than you think.
I think a lot of people get caught up in the thought of [F#] nothing that I do matters.
Nothing is ever going to change.
Even though [A#] things might not change [F] as much as you want them to,
[D#] I think that your mindset can ultimately [F#] affect how you are as a person.
[N] What helped me was just changing my mindset about a lot of stuff.
There was [F#] a book that really helped me when I was younger called The Power of Now.
[A#] And a lot of it just has to do with how all of our issues stemmed from being caught not living in the moment.
We're always striving for living [Gm] somewhere in the future or [D#m] you're continually caught up in the past
[F] and because of that, of living in those two extremes, you're [F#] never right here.
And those two things [F] ultimately don't matter anymore.
[B] Your past is gone.
Your [G] future doesn't exist.
So it's like that really shouldn't have a grasp on your mindset.
[F#m] And the only [F] thing that really should matter is this current [F#] situation.
And I [D#m] think just [A#] kind of [F] flipping my mindset to try and think [F#] more of where I am right now in this [C] moment
helped a lot for [G#] me.
I don't think that I [F] necessarily felt like I was worthless back then.
I think that it was [Fm] more of I'm [G] never going to get to where I want to be.
So there isn't really a point to [C] me [D#m] continuing on.
[Fm] The odds of me doing what I want [D#] to do are so slim, what's the point?
[B] And I think that that's a wrong mindset [F] to think in hindsight.
[F#m] [F#] And now I think that if [N] you really put your mind to do anything, you can do whatever you want.
I think that if you really try your hardest, you [F#] can get anywhere in life.
I think that if you [D] have a will, there's a way.
And struggling is just part of it.
[F#m] Everyone's going to struggle.
If [F] you feel like [F] you're struggling with something, talk to somebody [F#] because that's, I mean, that helped me [A#] immensely.
And I think [F#] for a lot of people, it's hard to go talk to somebody [F] because then you're admitting that you have a problem.
And people don't want to admit [F#] that.
They want to [G#] just say, everything's fine, [F#] I'm fine.
And sometimes I think [D#m] the best thing to do is to just surrender and [G] say, you know what?
I don't feel right.
Something's not [F#] going well.
[C#] And the only way out [F#] of those thoughts is to talk to someone.
[D#m] It's uncomfortable at first, sure.
But I [A#] think that [G] talking to somebody that has [C] no [G] real, I guess, [Am] involvement in your own [Bm] personal life,
[B] it's almost like talking [N] to a wall that has input for you.
You know what I mean?
So there's no judgment.
I think it's just human nature to figure [F#] out what your [C] purpose is and who you are.
And [F] I don't think that that [F#] struggle ever ends.
I think that it's just [D#] at some point you become comfortable [F] with, this is who I am.
This is what I'm here to do.
And I'm just going to do it to the best of my ability.
I [E] guess [F] [E] that's the best I can describe [Gm] what my situation is.
If you're [F]
feeling like you don't know who you are, if you're feeling hopeless,
if you're [F#] feeling like you're [G#] stuck in a hole that [F] you can't get out of,
[C] go to forum.heartsupport.com and talk to people [F] that can hopefully help you out.
