And what that does, it gets you playing
elastically against the common time.
Then I tried it
over two.
So it would be four [N] over two, five over two,
six over two, and so forth.

That's a nice relationship.

But I emphasize that the exercises that are eighth note equals eighth note,
the earlier exercise I showed you, you must be able to really
kill those notes.
It has to be able to play them really strong.
Because if you try to skip this stuff and go on to the more exotic stuff, which I
see from time to time, you'll sound weak.
Because the people that are doing the exotic stuff
have this basic muscle memory in place.
And if you
don't, you can't solve it by moving on to more sophisticated material.
We can hear the difference.
