[Bm] [Am] [G]
[C] [G] Mother, [C] mother [G] ocean, I [C] have [G] heard you call.
[C] Wanted to sail upon your waters, I was raved
[G] of.
You've [Am] seen it all.
[Bm] [Am] You've [G] seen it all.

[N] Okay folks, today we're going to talk about the song A Pirate Turns 40 by Jimmy Buffett.
I'm going to be doing my lessons now totally in Open G tuning because of a hand injury.
I'm back in business, but I'm playing now in Open G tuning.
So let me first talk about how to play this great song.
First of all, we have Open G on the guitar, and I'll explain that in another detailed video.
[G] But essentially you're going to be strumming the beginning of the song.
It starts with an Open G chord, which is just an open strum from the fifth string down.
Mother, mother ocean.
You can finger pick if you need to.
And then you're going to go to a C chord, which is laying [F#m] your first finger on [C] the first five strings of the fifth fret.
Wanted to sail upon your waters, I was three [G] feet tall.
And this is [N] going to go to two chords.
One's called the G with a B bass, and that's made by putting your
middle finger on the second fret of the fourth string, and your first finger on the first fret of the second string.
And you're going to just be playing the middle [C] four strings.
So you get a G sound with a B bass, because this is a G here, and then you've got your B down here.
[G] And you're going back right to the Open G.
[Am] Then the next line is, you've seen it all, which is an A minor.
And you make your A minor by putting your middle finger on the second fret of the fifth string,
your ring finger on the second fret of the fourth string, and then you put your first finger on the first fret of the second string.
You're just playing the middle four strings.
That's an A minor.
And then you're going to go slide up two frets [Bm] to a B [Am] minor, and then back down to an A minor.
So the way that sounds, you've seen it all, [Bm] [Am]
you've [G] seen it all, and then Open [C] G.
[G] You can do that little bounce down with the C and the, [C] [G] [C] [G]
[C] [G] [G] okay?
So basically all the verses are exactly the same, and I'll just play one more time.
You can do some picking.
Watch the [C] man [G] who rode you, switch from sail to steam.
[C] In your belly you hold the treasures few have ever [G] seen.
Most [Am] of them dream.
[Bm] [Am] [G] Most of them dreams.
[G] Ending with a little harmonic at the end.
All the verses are the same, very easy song in Open G tuning.
Glad to be back in business, and I hope you watch, and I hope you learn to play in Open G tuning.
It's been a pretty dramatic change for me.
Thanks a lot, and we'll catch you later.
