In this week's song of the week, we're doing Ralph Stanley's version of Pretty Polly.
This video is a tribute to Ralph because he passed away this past Friday.
He was the last of the first generation bluegrass pioneers.
His singing, his songwriting, and his banjo playing influenced everybody in the bluegrass community.
If you're a bluegrass musician, Ralph Stanley has influenced you whether you know it or not.
I wanted to try and capture some of his banjo sound in [N] this version.
There's a lot of forward rolls, very bluesy sounding.
If you have any questions about it, please let me know in the comments section below.
The tab is available for free if you sign up for my mailing list.
That link is below this video.
And I'll put a link to the original recording of Pretty Polly so you can hear where I took this melody.
Thanks so much for watching, and I'll see you next week for a new video.
