Hey Guitar Buddies, let's do Spirit in the Sky, which is quite similar to my last video,
my Cuckoo Chew.
[D] [F#m]
[F] [D]
[F#m]
[B]
[D] So that's the famous intro, great little [B] intro.
So I'm just playing an octave A [A] here.
A [E] and then A [G#] on the bottom string, so 7 and [F#m] 5.
[B] And then I'm just doing, kind of picking upwards.
[A]
[D] [A]
[D] [B] So just stay on that [A] A octave.
[D] And then I'm changing the bottom note to a D, keeping the A on top.
[F#] And then [G] play the C and [C] A.
[D]
So 5, 7, [A] 3, 7.
[D]
[B] And then it's just the same, but we reverse the last two notes.
So we go C to D, rather than D to [F#m] C.
[D] [Em]
Now over that you could play [Bm] [B]
[Bm]
a little sort of psychedelic lick that you hear on both [D] versions.
[G] And I'm just bending up here on the 7th fret and bending both the D, the G sorry, and the B strings.
[Cm]
[Bm] And then just releasing them back down.
[Cm] [Bm]
So put that over the top.
You could play it an [B]
[Bm] [G] octave higher if you wanted to.
So then we've got the chords for the [F#m] song.
[D] [A]
[D]
[A] [B] [E]
[B]
So that's the first chords, and just simply A, [F#] D,
[D]
A, [B]
E.
[E]
And on the E you kind of play
a bar and a half.
1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 1, 2.
And then the second time you [G] go back to it, you only play it for a bar before going back
to [A] the A.
So you only play four beats, not six.
So that's the basic chord structure of the song.
Now for the solo.
[G]
[A] [B]
[C] [A] [G]
[A] [D]
[Bm] [Am]
[G] Okay, so what we play here is the chords play [A] G [E]
to [Am] A.
And then we [G] play over that, play A,
G to A, but a single [A] note.
[G] So just hammering [A] G to A.
And [D] [A]
then the chords [G] go.
[A]
[G] So the chords kind of play a little progression and then the [B] notes follow it.
[G] So we've [A] got A, A, [G] A, G over these chords.
[A]
[G] And then going back to G, A.
[A] [C]
And then there's a C chord.
And over that you can play [B] C, B, [C] C.
[A] [D]
Then back [G] to G, A.
[A] [G]
And [A] the same again.
[G] [A] And the [C] chords play C, [D] G, [C] and C, [D]
[A] D.
[D]
[C] Then back into the intro.
So over that [D] C [E] to D you've got
[Em] [G]
[A] C, A, [C] C.
So I'm just going up [Am] the scale in a pattern.
C, [C] A, C, [A] D, C, D, [Em] E, D, E, G, [G] E, G, [A] A.
[D]
[A] [G]
Great fun tune.
Enjoy!
my Cuckoo Chew.
[D] [F#m]
[F] [D]
[F#m]
Enjoy!
