This next song I usually sing and I love to sing it because it's my favorite song, but tonight I'm not going to sing it
Because this is kind of a special night, a special [E] week for us
Or if you haven't heard already
[D] [N] We lost Mitch James this week who was our older brother, our mentor
He was the handsome one, [B] the one with the chisel jaw, and the chisel hit him right [Dm] here.
You remember that one?
[N] Well Mitch James passed away this week, so he wrote this song
[Dm] He and Rodney, so this is for our dear [N] lost brother
and our dear sweet [Dm] brother Rodney
There [D] is a [Dm] time
[N] [Dm]
[N] It's definitely a celebration.
He lived a great life and we had a lot of great times and now he's gone I can write the book
[Dm]
[F] [Dm]
[F] [Dm]
[Bb] [C] [Dm]
There is a time for love and laughter
The [F] days will pass like [Dm] summer storms
The [F] winter winds will [Dm] follow after
But there [Bb] is [F] love and [Dm] love is gone
There is a time for us to wonder
The night is [G] [Dm] young and so are we
To [F] watch our creator [Dm] worry on you
[Bb] As his [Cm] new [Dm] world is created

[Dm] [Bb]
[C] [Dm] In the wild
There is a time when
The knees are falling
[F]
[Dm] [F]
[Dm] [Bb]
[C] [Dm]
Those are afraid
The paths are open
The snow will come when
Peace your [F] calling
You need a fire [Dm] against [Am] the Cold
[Bb] There is [C] a [Dm] time for us to wonder
The night is young
So are [F] we
To see the
[Dm]
So we
So [F] we shall free
So we shall free our [Dm] old men
Our old men
Our [Bb] [C] [Dm] old men
Folks, there's a
I'm going to sing you a verse that nobody has heard very much
A few years ago I cut an album
down in Nashville and the person asking me
to sing the song with them
they said, could you write another verse
you know, after 40 years
I said, my gosh, I've got to call Mitch
So I got him on the phone
45 minutes before the session
and he and I
wrote this about, I want to say 15 years
and it sort of reflects
the way he was feeling at the time
I'm not sure if he has
It's about many old friends
and you see them again
Life is like
rolling river with [F] no regrets
as [Dm] it moves on
around the bend
It's a shining morning
to [Bb] greet the [C] friends
we [Dm] thought were gone
But there isn't time
for us alone
When time is young
and so are we
The woods [F] are green
and our old [Dm] men
The [Bb] path is [C] new
the [Dm] world is free
The [Bb] path is [F] new
the [Dm] world is free
[B] [G]
