10 INSANELY Fun Acoustic Riffs You Must Learn Now chords
Start Jamming...
Hey everybody, Mark here at 8 Minute Acts.
All guitar riffs are not created equal.
Some riffs are just more fun to play than others.
Sadly, there are actually some riffs
that crush a little bit of my soul every time I play them.
Thankfully, on the flip side,
there are riffs that I never get tired of, no matter how many times I play them.
I suppose
it's a combination of how good the riff is, how well I play the riff, and even how my fingers feel
as they navigate through the sequence of notes and chords.
In this video, I'm going to play my
top 10 most fun to play acoustic riffs.
I think it's important to remind ourselves of why most
of us picked up the guitar in the first place.
To get chicks.
Wait, that's not right.
It's
because
Oh, because it's fun.
So with that in mind, let's have some fun.
I'm going to play the
riffs from easiest to hardest.
If a couple of these riffs have always intimidated you, there's no time
like right now to get over your fears and challenge yourself.
If you'd like the tabs or you
need a little help with any of these riffs, just shoot me an email at markavernalley at gmail.com.
I'll do whatever I can to help you nail it.
Before we get started, I want to encourage all of you to
check out the RockLok.
It's a completely new type of guitar strap lock that I invented.
It doesn't
require any tools, installs, and seconds, and best of all, it works with the original strap button of
just about every major guitar brand.
Here, let me show you how it works.
So all I did was just
fasten it to the strap.
Underneath is the locking mechanism and the quick release triggers.
You just
line it up with your guitar strap button, pull until you hear the click.
When you're finished,
we use the triggers and you're ready for the next guitar.
I promise you it'll be the most convenient
and easy to use strap lock you've ever tried.

Let's get into the countdown.
I consider a great chord progression or riff as well,
and this first one is just a great chord progression.
Melissa by the Allman Brothers,
a great way to start.

Next up is probably the most well-known song by this not as well-known
band.
Ten Years After is the band, and the song is I'd Love to Change the World.
Simple open chords,
but a great arpeggiated pattern.
[G]
[A#] [C]
[Em] [G]
[Am] [C]
[B] [Em]
[D#] Timeless Classic by Ten Years After.
Next up is the first of two
Fleetwood Mac songs, and if you want to learn how to Travis Pick, this is a great place to start.
The song Landslide.

[C] This one's always a lot of fun to play, and it's a great way to warm up if you are a fingerstyle
player, and it's Dust in the Wind.

[A] [Am] [C]
[G] [E] Next one up is a little bit of a deeper cut, and it's From

When I first learned this riff, I played it over and
over again.

Next up is another finger-picking song.
Now this one is deceptively a little bit

[B] This next one is a song that I covered in
its entirety about a year and a half ago.
It's a little more difficult because it's in 7-4 time,
and the song is Salisbury Hill by Peter Gabriel, and I gotta put a capo on.

[F#] Never Going Back Again.
