Start Jamming...
We bought two guitars in a pawn shop
[F] in [A] 1959 in Tacoma, Washington.
[D] [F#] And we [G#m] were trying to learn and bought [B] some court books.
And we didn't have a drummer or a bass player.
As a matter of fact, we didn't know a drummer or a bass player.
So we were rehearsing at my sister's [F#] house.
[G#]
And she knew the neighbors [N] and they had a son.
He was 17 years old.
And he was playing drums in the high school marching band.
So we got him over to the house to practice with us.
And [B] as a matter of fact, [F] he worked out very well.
[A] And he was [F#] the very first drummer.
He [N] was with us actually for about eight or nine months.
He was the very first drummer ever to play Walk Don't Run with the Ventures.
And actually, yeah, all right.
You're [F#] just Hey.
Oh, a bunch of old people out here, huh?
[E] My kind of [A] people.
So he came over and
[B] he had a lot to do with the [E] arrangement of Walk Don't Run, which was very important.
And now he is a four-star general.
[N]
How about that?
All right.
I'd like to introduce to you General George Babbage.
A little reunion here.
Yeah!
Yeah, there's a little 17-year-old there.
[G#m] Grew up, [F#m] didn't he?
All right.
We're going to play this for you.
[N] And George is going to start it off for us.
It's our first hit.
It's a lot of records for us.
It's called Walk Don't Run.

All right, George.
You know, we received these in 1990.

did our very first recording with us.
Didn't sell many records, but
It [Am] wasn't your fault, I know.
[F#] Anyway.
They have recognized that you [F] have done all these things,
and they have inducted you into the Northwest Area Rock and Roll [E] Hall of [G] Fame.

As long as I'm up here, I've got to say something, too.
You know, there's probably quite a few 17-year-old drummers in high school
who played drums for a while and then saw the rest of their group go on to fame and fortune.
But I'll bet you there aren't very [A#] many of them who, 38 years later, got to perform with [D] them again.
So thanks to all of [N] them.
