Hello, this is Paul Hummeler at Dream Guitars, and here's another incredible instrument from
Michel Pellerin.
[Ebm] Michel is one of Canada's finest luthiers, and he's also a teacher of
guitar [Eb] building and is teaching and mentoring a number of the great makers around today in Canada.
This is his Grand Auditorium Presentation guitar.
It's made out of coca-bola rosewood on the back
and sides.
Coca-bola has this reddish hue and often has a beautiful little bit of sapwood,
which a builder can highlight to give it some [G] drama.
[E] The top on this one is really silky sika
spruce, one of my favorites because it does everything well.
Sika is warm and it's rich.
It's also powerful, and then this guitar has got a lot of [D] chime on top, which [Eb] you'll hear in a
minute.
The other really nice features about this guitar, he used African blackwood for the bridge
and the binding and the bevel.
It's got a subtle bevel here, which really feels great into the arm
for a bigger guitar.
You can play all day without getting that lovely red line we get.
And then [E] this inlay, which you should look at the pictures for, this is a Japanese flower,
and I really like it.
When I walk by it in the shop, every [F] time I wind up [D] having a look at it,
it's drawing my eye for some reason.
So personally, I like it a lot.
It's subtle.
It's intricate,
but it's in that one small area.
It just really kind of sets the guitar off, I think.
So
definitely a presentation-grade instrument here.
[E] So let's give this one a listen.
