All right, are we good?
Hello people of the internet.
[F] Welcome back [Gm] to a new guitar lesson
[Cm] All right.
[Gm] Today we are learning seven years [G] by Lucas Graham.
[Dm] You guys requested this [Gm] song
I don't even know how [Cm] many times just [Bb] too many to count and [D] when requests [C] like that happen
I'm like I need to do [D] this song
I actually posted [Bb] on my Instagram this morning asking you guys [D] which song you guys thought I was gonna be teaching [Bb] today and
[Gm] Only one person got it
[C] One [Dm] person guessed seven [D] years like I [Bb] don't understand how more people did not guess [Bb] the song
It is like number one on iTunes right now
Okay, so I'm just gonna go ahead [F] and give a shout out to the winner.
[Bb] Her name is Alice in Wonderland 18
so congratulations, you guessed [Cm] the tutorial right today you get a
[Gm] You get a virtual [Bb] high five.
All right [E] starting off with the [Gm] easiest chord in the song.
We have an E minor
[Gm]
then [C] we have a G major [Bb] a
C [Eb] major and
[Abm] a D major
[F] All right now getting [N] into strumming here.
We have a few different patterns
I'm gonna go ahead and start off with the easiest pattern which mostly occurs in the intro and in the bridge.
They're just single down [Gm] strums
Really simple really easy.
[E]
We're also going to come across the pattern down [Eb] down down up
It's going to go
Now this next [N] pattern might be a little bit trickier to you.
It's down down up down down
So down down up down up down
So there's going to be three different chords within this pattern.
So it's going to [Gm] go a minor
[Bb] G
[Gm] Down up [F] down up [Bb] down
[Gm] I'll do it one more time down down up [F] down up
[Bb] Down all right now [C] very last strumming pattern is going to sound like this
[D]
[Ab] So that's down down up
[G] Now we're gonna just pair it with the C chord because that's what I use it with so [Eb] C chord, here we go
And for those of you that need a little bit of slo-mo I'm just gonna go down
Down up up down down up down up
All right, guys.
[N] So now that we have the chords and the strumming we're just gonna go ahead and get into the song
[Gm] Once I was [Bb] seven years old
My mama [Eb] told me go make [F] yourself some friends that you'll be lonely
[Gm] Once I [Bb] was seven years old
[Eb]
[Gm] It was a [F] big big [Bb] world, but we thought we were [Eb] bigger
Pushed each other [F] to the limits we were [Gm] learning quicker
But a [Bb] little smoking herb and drinking burning [Eb] liquor
Never reached so we [F] were out to make that steady figure
[Gm] Once I was 11 [Bb] years old
My daddy told [Eb] me go make yourself [F] a wife and you'll be lonely
Once I was 11 [Bb] years
I [Eb]
[Gm] always had that [Bb] dream like my daddy before
