What is up everybody?
My name is Pete, I play music and this is the [F] Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200.
So a while back Hughes & Kettner hit me up and said,
Hey Pete, do you want to try out one of our new amplifiers?
We think you'll really like it.
So I said, [C] that would be wicked, thank you very [E] much.
Anyway, it's here [C] now, so I figured the best way to put this through its paces
is to throw 8 different styles of metal at it and see what it's got.
Now the last time I made a video like this, you guys quite rightly said that I should do it without any post EQ or any pedals.
So this time [F] I'm trying to stick to that, there's no [N] post EQ except for a high and low pass and there's no pedals on the way in.
As usual, tab and extras for this and all my videos are exclusively [C] available on my Patreon, link to that is in the description down below.
But right now, let's show this thing some metal and see what it's got.

[C] [F] So when I first got this amp, I was just really curious to check it out.
I've never played [C] anything by Hughes & Kettner before.
And do I like it?
Yes, but there is a catch.
It sounds very good, the tone I got for the death metal style especially was actually really close to a kind of [G] HM2 vibe.
That classic kind of death metal sound from the 90s that everyone tries to replicate.
So it sounds good and it certainly looks very pretty, [G] but I did find it quite hard to use.
All of [Gb] the controls on the front have a multi [G]-function and it's a little bit confusing at times.
There's definitely a learning curve to learning this amp.
Also this is meant to pair with an app so you [E] can control it remotely via Bluetooth.
But at the time of filming this, that app has vanished for some reason.
I don't know why, maybe it will come back in future.
So overall, pretty good but [Db] sometimes a little bit hard to use.
Alright, [C] that'll do it.
