[A#] We'll still come on the News Hour.
This is the time of year when a lot of
schoolers are getting ready for their year-end [D#] assemblies and the kids at this
Calgary school [A#] sure had a [D#m] special guest of honor in their [A#] gym today helping [D#m] out
after a tough break.
[A#] Next on the News Hour.
[D#] [C] Well it's certainly not every day you get a visit her like this at your school.
I've just never seen an eagle before.
Me either!
So I think it's kind of [N] interesting.
And this is no ordinary eagle.
Spirit is a golden eagle from a wildlife rehab center near Lethbridge.
Brought in two years ago with a wound that changed his life forever.
The gunshot pellet went through his right eye and sadly that took his vision away in both eyes.
Why did they shot the
Well we're not sure.
It even could have been an accident.
A blind eagle wouldn't survive in the wild so Spirit will never be released.
We wanted to cheer him up because [D] he got hurt.
The grade one and two students have [C] written a song about him.
[Em] Spirit's sight may [C] be gone but his hearing is as sharp as ever.
[G] We wanted to do a [D] song because he felt really bad [C] for him.
[Em] I think he'll [C] feel really good and [Em] happy that we're singing it for him and I think he'll feel [C] free.
[G] [D]
After the [Em]
experiment
A special moment for Spirit and the man who takes [C] care of him, Colin Weir.
And the kids know just what it takes to calm him down.
[G] You can see it really relaxing.
It has a very soothing effect [C] on him.
Isn't that cool?
[G] You [A]
[D] [N] sing terrific!
I'm going to mess up your deal.
You've got to sing real strong.

The world is dark [A] but I still can hear.
[D]
I feel the [A] tender hands that take [E] away my fear.
[D]
She whispered don't [F#m] be scared.

When I dream, [A]
I'm a mile high.

When I dream, [E] I hear the voices cry.
I hear the voices cry.

[F#m] Fly Spirit, [D]
fly [F#m] Spirit fly.
