Chords for A Song For #TeamTrees

[C] Hey everyone, [G] so you probably noticed yesterday [Bb] that a ton of [F] creators put out videos [C] about
team trees.
In [F] celebration of MrBeast hitting [Dm] 20 million subscribers, it was suggested to him [C] that
[G] he should plant 20 million trees.
And that [F] idea caught fire and in natural MrBeast [C] fashion,
he decided, [F] let's do it.
So he enlisted the help of Mark Rober and [Gm] Destin from Smarter Every [C] Day
and a whole bunch of [G] other people who all came [F] together to reach out to creators like me [C] and
many many others [F] who have all decided to become a part of what is, I would assume, the [Ab] largest
collaboration of creators in the history of the [Gm] platform.
So basically here's what's going [Bb] on.
Teamtrees.org [Ab] is partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation and every [Gm] dollar that gets donated,
[F] one tree will [Ab] be planted.
So that's 20 million dollars [Gm] is our collective aim to raise [Ab] money to
donate to the Arbor Day [Fm] Foundation and then they're going to [C] plant 20 million trees.
So this
video was supposed to come out yesterday [G] but when I found out what this [Bb] project was, I really wanted
[F] to make something [C] special.
Special to me anyways.
And you may have [F] noticed on my channel that I
don't really write [C] songs unless I can [G] use the scapegoat of [Bb] humor [F] to shield myself from being
vulnerable.
[C] I've written music and, [F] you know, songs [Am] without words for [F] years and years and years and I
love that but I've never taken [C] my ideas or my [G] feelings and put them into [Bb] lyrics.
It's [F] just not
something that I'm that experienced [C] with.
But when I heard about what [F] this project was, you know, I
started thinking about sort of, I don't know, I guess you could say the [Ab] state of the world that
we're living [Fm] in today and it seems like we're at [Gm] each other's throats more and more all the time.
And [Ab] this project kind of [Fm] elicited in my mind [Gm] the idea of [Am] why not?
Why [Ab] shouldn't we
plant 20 [Fm] million trees?
I mean, it's [Gm] a_
there's nothing but good [D] that can come out of it.
But
unfortunately [Ab] for some reason that I never really [C] understood, when we start talking about
the environment and [A] doing things to help our [E] environment and protect our planet,
[G] somehow [A] we always wind up going down the road of politics [E] or opinions or_
[G] And to me it just
seems like [A] this is a great project that addresses so many [E] important issues in a way [G] where we can
all get on board with [A] this no matter what your opinions are.
Whenever I have the opportunity [E] to
think of something in terms [C] of how can we get our opinions out of this and just do something
[G] together that's [Bb] good, that's positive, [F] that can have an [C] impact that's going to benefit everybody.
I always like to approach things [F] that way.
This song is, I guess, just me trying [C] to put a lot of
those thoughts into [G] words.
Forget our [F] sides, forget our opinions, forget our affiliations,
[C] and just do something cool [F] because we can.
