Hi, my [E] name is Dave with Max Accordions.
I'm here to teach you the intro to playing the [A] accordion.
The accordion is a [D] great instrument to learn how to play.
The reason is you're your own band.
You have the keyboard which allows you to play individual notes. _
[A] _ _ _ [F] _ _ _ [D] You also have chords which accompany those [B] notes.
[F] You _ _
[Ebm] _ _ _ [C] _ _ _ _ [G]
have [Ab] 120 bass notes [D] which allows you to play individual bass notes. _
[B] _ _ [G] _ _ _ _ [C] _ _
You have major chords.
You have minor chords.
You have seventh chords.
You have diminished [Cm] chords.
_ You also have rhythm like the 4-4 timing. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [G] _ [C] _
You have 3-4 timing which is the waltz beat. _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [F] _ [C] _
_ Now you add them all together and you have yourself a song. _

Now go grab your [N] accordion and let's get started. _ _ _
_ _ Before we get started, let's go over a few accordion parts.
You have the shoulder straps.
The shoulder straps should feel comfortable.
They shouldn't be pulling the accordion towards your chest and pressing it against.
Also the bass straps should feel comfortable.
It should be able to maneuver back and forth your hand.
If you have to adjust this bass strap, there's a little wheel right here you can turn back
and forth which will open and close it.
You also have the bottom of the keyboard.
It should sit in the center of your legs.
This way the accordion doesn't shift all around on you.
Okay, I think we're ready to go.
Let's get started.

_ The first thing we're going to learn [N] is a very important note which is going to be the middle C.
Now you ask where do you find the middle C?
The middle C will always be found in the center of the keyboard and it's always right before
the two black notes.
If you notice we have two black notes, three black notes, two black notes, three black notes.
The middle C is always right before the two black notes.
So let's take our thumb and let's press the middle C.
Ready, play.
[C] One, two, three, four, ah.
Let's try it again.
Ready, play.
One, two, three, four, ah.
Very good.
Now the second note we're going to learn how to play is going to be the F.
Now the F is the fourth in the key of C which we are in.
So let's all count up together.
Let's first find the middle C again.
And how do you find the middle C?
That's right.
It's right before the two black notes.
So let's take our thumb and let's [C] hit it together.
Let's count it up.
That's one, [D] two, three, [F] four.
And there is the F with our fourth finger.
_ Okay.
Let's try it and let's all hit that F together.
Ready, play.
One, two, three, four, ah.
Let's hit it again.
One, two, three, four, ah.
Now [Db] this time we're going to hit the F and we're going to go back [C] to the C.
And then we're going to go [N] back to the C and go back to the F.
Are we ready?

Now the third note we're going to learn how to play is the G.
Now the G is the fifth of the key of C in the scale.
So we're going to count up from the middle C.
And how do we find the middle C?
That's right.
It's right before the two black notes.
So let's take our thumb and let's press [C] that C and let's count up.
One, [D] two, three, [F] four, [G] five.
And that is G.
So now [N] let's start and let's hit that G with our pinky finger, this one right here, and
let's hit it together.
One, two, ready, [Gm] play.
One, two, three, four, ah.
Let's sing it again.
Ready, [G] play.
One, two, three, four, [N] ah.
Now this time I'm just going to shout out some notes and I want you to hit it.
Are we ready?
We'll start on the C.
How do you find the C? That's right.
Right before the two black notes.
And, ready, two, ready, [C] play.
One, two, three, [F] four, F, two, three, four, [G] G, two, three, [Fm] four, F, two, three, four,
[C] C, two, three, four, ah.
Very good.
Now we're starting to get the hang of this.
You're probably sitting there going, well, why are you picking the one, four, and five
notes?
Well, because we have the key of C, which is the one.
The F is the fourth [F] in the C. _ _ _ _ _
And the fifth is the G. _ _ _ _ _
And back to [C] the C. _ _ _ _
[N] Now with those three chords, makes up most of your music that you have out there.
So, this is how we're going to slowly get started on this.
Well, now we're moving to the bass section.
