In the $750 to $999 category, we chose the Cordova C9, which I'm holding here.
Cordova Guitars is an American company that was founded in 1997 and which now offers a
full line of nylon string guitars.
The C9 is constructed from solid woods all around, and you can tell from its light weight
that it's not overbuilt.
The guitar has a very evenly grained cedar top, and its mahogany back and sides have
a bit of a three-dimensional shine behind the finish, which may be a bit hard to see
here on video.
The finish itself is very impressive, and among the best I've ever seen on a classical
guitar in this price range.
It's thin and very evenly applied, with no buildup in tricky areas like around the neck
joint or the bridge.
The C9's neck has a slightly thinner profile than many traditional classical guitar necks.
It's still wide enough for playing with traditional classical technique, but it may be just slimmed
down enough to be comfortable for players who are more used to steel string guitar necks.
The Cordova has an adjustable truss rod, so if the neck ever needs adjusting, it can be done easily.
The Cordova C9 is made in China, and has a street price of about $799.
Let's have a listen to Mark Simons playing it.
