Yes, this [Dm] is going to be a truly thrilling ride.
You can be sure it will be a true Efteling [Fm] attraction.
It's a unique [Ab] experience for both riders and spectators.
_ In this series, we'll take you through the development and creation of [Ab] Efteling's
newest spectacular attraction.
This time, [Cm] you'll get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the start of construction and we'll
reveal the [Fm] name and theme.
How did it all begin?
[Db] Where does the inspiration come from?
And [Ab] how do you bring such a massive project to a successful conclusion?
[C]
This is the making-of of the new dive coaster.
[Bb] _ _ [C] _ What began in 1952 as a playground and fairy-tale park has also been a place [F] for excitement,
speed, [C] and a healthy dose of adrenaline since the 1980s.
For example, the park opened Europe's largest roller coaster in 1981.
Can you compete on a unique wooden racer [G] coaster or escape the curse of the Flying Dutchman?
[C] _
To stay interesting for young visitors looking for thrills and spills, it's [G] time to invest
in a new thrill ride.
_ [D] Well, we're here at the construction site of a beautiful new attraction.
We received a [C] request from management to design an E.R.R.
an ape coaster for a specific target audience.
Ultimately, we discovered that we were still missing some attractions, especially for the
target audience of beginning teenagers.
Well, that's where the fun part of the whole story begins, because then you start thinking
about what kind of attraction that might be.
Well, then you have similar attractions and [Gm] completely unique attractions, and we ultimately
chose [Em] the dive coaster.
Another [C] feature of the attraction is its considerable capacity.
[G] We want to grow to 5 million visits by 2020, [D] and that also means we need to have enough
attractions to [C] accommodate those 5 million visitors.
_ _ [Dm] _ _ The dive coaster [F] is a unique attraction for [G] Efteling.
And why?
The experience you get when you ride the elevator up to 35 or 40 meters is simply incredible,
just the height [Dm] you go.
But the beauty of that thigh coaster is its [G] very specific shape, with [D] a vertical drop.
And that's partly why we actually came up with the mining theme.
[Dm] _ _ Everything at [G] Efteling has a story.
Storytelling is very important.
This ride is no exception.
The [B] story is about Gustav.
[D] Gustav Hoogmoed.
Gustav Hoogmoed came here around 1890 and discovered an old tunnel [A] system.
And he went [G] into that tunnel system.
And in the tunnel cell, you quickly encountered white women.
[C] White women protect the earth and protect the soil.
And when that [Dm] happens, it's not good. _ _ _
[Bb] _ _ We'll soon ask the [C] guests to become a real compot and really go [G] into the mine for the
mine barren with mountains of gold in prospect.
Many [Dm] suggestions have already been made for the name.
And they [C] ranged from Hoogmoed before the fall, of [Dm] course, to other names.
It has to be a name that suits Efteling.
There has [Em] to be a name that fits the area.
It [G] has to be a name for all languages.
And that's why we've chosen the following name.
[Dm] _ _
_ Baron 1898.
[D] That will be the name of the dive coaster at Efteling.
_ [Bb] _
_ [Eb] _ _ [Gm] _ _ _ [C] Yes, we're here on the construction site, right in the middle of the [F] park.
It's actually quite special to choose to build right [Fm] in the middle of the park.
And [Gm] we found a piece of land that we hadn't done much to.
[Bb] This used to be the lighthouse for the swimming pool.
And yes, we [Eb] haven't done anything with it for years.
[F] And that's actually the reason we're building here.
It will be an icon in Efteling.
[C] It will, of course, be a very large high-rise attraction with a beautiful image.
A unique experience for both those riding [F] and those watching.
But fantastic to experience.
You can be [Bb] sure it will be a true Efteling attraction.
[C] So, the combination of the steel and the [Bb] story.
[F] Now that the decision has been [C] made that it has to be a dive coaster,
the preparations can begin.
The area between Parana and the Flying Dutchman is being cleared.
[Ab] And a dedicated road is being constructed for construction traffic.
Everything [E] is now ready for the construction of Baron [Fm] 1898. _
