Alien Weaponry - A short documentary 2015 chords
Start Jamming...
We're Alien Weaponry.
[D#] We're from [A#] Waipu.
We're a three-piece band, and we play [N] thrash metal.
We've kind of dubbed it hardcore thrash metal.
So it's [Dm] kind of thrash metal [C#] without the twiddly solos.
We were almost like a groove thrash metal band,
if you know what I mean.
Metal [N] is a serious genre, but us, Alien Weaponry,
aren't all completely serious guys.
I mean, we like to have a bit of fun [Dm] outside metal.
OK, boys, let's do this.
[E] We live on a farm just out of Waipu.
[Dm] All right, tackle down!
We don't have any neighbours for about 2km in all [A] directions,
so we can practise as late and as loud as we want.
[B] No-one will complain.
We got a chicken!
Chicken on the loose!
Playing with two brothers in a band can be quite testing at times.
You know, cos they're our brothers' almost natural enemies.
[F#] Hi, I'm Lewis, and I play guitar, and I sing.
Lewis is my brother.
Lewis is [A] really, really talented.
Like, he's [B] such a good guitarist,
and the way he [G] sings is not something a lot of people can do.
[C] [E] [B] [G#]
[G#] I'm Henry.
I'm 15.
I play drums in Alien [G] Weaponry.
[E] Henry's the older of the two brothers.
You could say the most mature, but he's still pretty crazy.
You know, Henry's a cool guy.
He's a great drummer.
[N] Drums are something to bash.
[F#]
Hi, I'm Ethan Trimboff.
I'm 13 years old.
And I'm the bassist from Alien Weaponry.
Ethan's a great bass player.
I mean, he's only been playing for about three years.
He's [B] never had lessons.
Yeah, he's picked it up [F#] real fast.
I first met Lewis and Henry at circus, and I came here one [F] day,
and, you know, [D] Neil sort [B] of gave me the bass and [G] said,
[F#] And so I tried it out, and I really liked it.
[B] Me and [F#m] Lewis's dad, he's [E] actually been in bands for [Dm] years,
and [B] he's been [G] kind of helping [F#] us out and managing us,
and he's a cool dad.
[B] Alien Weaponry have [F#] actually got four rules in [Em] the band.
The first rule [E] is stick together.
[B] The second [G] rule is [F#] you have to write good songs.
The third rule is you need to rehearse [B] those songs
so they're [F#] nice and tight.
And the fourth rule, which is the most important rule,
is don't [N] be a dick.
No one wants to play with you if you're a dick.
[D#] Ruana te whenua, which is our song in te reo,
Ethan actually swings the [E] purerehua, [B] which Just
I play the kowauau.
[A#] Henry'll stand there with a patu doing a mihi.
[Am]
Ruana te whenua means the shaking [G] earth or the trembling earth,
and [G#] it's a term that's used a lot in haka.
[B] [C]
Before they start the main piece of the haka,
they'll go
[A] [G#m] We thought it really suited the song.
Whakaranga maira!
[G] Whakaranga [D#] maira!
Ruana te whenua is about our ancestor
[G#] who fought at the Battle of Gate Park.
[N]
We thought it would be a cool topic to write our song about
and get something different out there.
[D] It's probably the [C#] first Maori metal song.
[N] We like playing live more than any other performance.
This year we've been really lucky to play with some great bands.
It's been Devilskin, which was an amazing experience.
We actually played at the Power Station with She Had,
which was the biggest live show so far.
Playing with those bands have really changed the way
that we look at ourselves.
We really do have to work hard,
and we don't want to disappoint, but it's still [C#m] a lot of work.
[B] [D] [F#]
What we want to bring to the [D#] Smokefree Rockwest [C] National Finals
is [F#] an amazing show for everyone [B] to see,
and just blow [G] everyone [F#] away.
If you're [G] enthusiastic on stage,
the crowd's [Em] more likely to be [C#] enthusiastic in the pit.
You've got the energy [F#] of the crowd fueling you,
as well as your drive [B] to make good music.
If it's not [E] 100%,
