Hello.
Hello
[Gb] Hey, so this is your very first Coachella.
Yes.
How do [Abm] you like it so far?
I think it's one of the most beautiful it is right.
Yeah, like people [Db] wise most beautiful woman men
[Eb] Everyone, you know, I just have to say when you rolled up you were with it like a girl gang
You had an entourage.
I don't know like 15 [F] women with you
[Abm]
[Ebm]
You're rolling deep on that [Abm] level
[Ab] So let's first [Ebm] talk about your new project and give [Db] people a little
perspective on on your career
[B] So the first time I came [Abm] across your music was [G] the EP urban [Ab] flora, which you did with the producer Gala Matias
[Abm]
Yeah, I was trying to get that right.
Yeah Gala Matias
[Eb]
And that was kind of a co-credit [Gbm] thing
It was the two of you and [Ebm] now you've kind of emerged on your on your own
[Ab]
But that first EP really [Eb] showed us all how [A] important it is [Ab] a producer to help shape the [Ebm] sound
How did you approach your own album here?
[Ebm] It's it was night and day
[Abm] And it's not the album yet.
[B] It's like more like so a prelude to the album.
Okay, [Ab] I didn't [B] I didn't really give detail into it
I just wanted to release music and let people perceive it the way [Abm] they wanted to perceive it
So how many [Ebm] songs are on this?
Nine songs and it was eight new songs electric was the only [Ebm] one that was released beforehand
[Gb] Yeah, [Db] and it was you know, it's it's such a different project.
[Db] It's such a rare thing for me.
It's an exact timeline of my life
Whereas urban flora is more [Eb] reflective and I'm I'm [Abm] looking back on a situation
Whereas this one is I went to the studio [Eb] and that's how I felt and that's how I what I wrote
It was like the producer was like my therapist and I was like I feel like this and that's what it [Db] was
Did you work with different people on it or did you?
[Abm] Yeah, that's it was it was really cool, too
I've never really gotten a chance to go to the studio
Work with all these different people.
[B] So that was very new for me
It sounds like [Ebm] it's been a learning [Gb] process as well for you
Evolving as an artist, [Eb] right?
I [Abm] definitely face challenges to like I
[Ebm] [Eb] Just going to the studio like in these uncomfortable environments, [Db] I think that's what pushed me more
So with people that you may not [C] know that well, right?
Right.
It's [B] a very vulnerable thing
Like it's already very vulnerable being in front of the whole world and sharing these [Eb] stories
But then in the studio, it's like [Eb] it's just a different level of vulnerability.
Yeah
So there's been some talk about how this year is is soul chela
There are so many emerging R&B artists that are on the bill
From [C] different corners [Gb] and that's exciting, but it's interesting just the timing of it all
Why do you think this is the year when we see so many exciting emerging artists like yourself [Ab] in this?
Genre, I think more and more [B] artists are getting the opportunity to be in [E] the forefront [Eb] like Daniel Caesar
Calhoun
[D] All [B] these
Artists like myself.
It's just we're getting a chance [Ab] to go where probably like a really big artist could [E] go
And I think it's it's like the [D] SoundCloud Spotify world
That's I don't know.
I think [Ab] it's it's just so much music coming from [Em] songwriters, [Db] too, which is my favorite part about it.
Yeah
Well, congratulations on the new release.
What's the [Gb] release date?
Is it is it out already now color of you?
Yeah.
Yeah, [Db] the color of you is out.
It came out [E] about a week ago, right?
All right
