I will give you [Ab] a close up look for those chords [C] and chord shapes of course
and then it should be fine
Now, [Ab] so the chords are kind of relatively ok [E] I suppose
For [C] the right hand, there's a lot of flat picking in there
which could [G] be, [Dbm] you can definitely play with your fingers if you want [F] to
but he indeed [C] does it with a pick
Well, what he actually does is
[Eb] we are not going to take a look at that
because he [E] literally plays a [Eb] right handed [G] guitar left [Bb] handed
Am I saying it correctly?
Yes, so basically it's [E] just like so
and then actually playing all the chord shapes the same way but [Eb] upside down
I [Dbm] cannot show you that, I didn't learn [C] it that way
He obviously did so, he is just [Eb] totally fine [C] doing so
Anyway, so, but indeed he [F] flat picks it
just, [Eb] you know, you need to [C] aim for the right strings and so on there
[G] So if you're having troubles doing that
then this is a very good lesson [Cm] for you
because it's really nice to [C] actually play with a pick
As for, there is no really, I [E] wouldn't say there is [F] a pattern in there
[C] but you do have some melody notes
which you would [Eb] want in certain spots, [Ab] certain places in a measure
[Eb] In particular at the end of [E] beat 2 and the end of [G] beat 3
So there you would have [C] like 1 and 2 and
that's what you want to hear
[E] And then beat 3 you might skip it
so you let the end of beat 2 just ring
or you would play a fill note on [Eb] beat 3 obviously
and then the end of beat [C] 3 you want to hear the second string
So what you get is this
1 and 2 and 3 and There
1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and
And there you just keep on picking
So, sounding 4 four times so you have 8 eighth notes
You can leave out indeed here and there
which he does as well
but he also just sometimes just fills up the whole measure
Like so
Same thing [G] for the next chord
See?
[E] Or F with an A in the [F] bass
[Dm]
[G] [C] Well, I'll get to how to play [A] this obviously [C] in the lesson very thoroughly there
Written out tablature for it too
So, in a way it shouldn't be too hard
In another way, you know, you do want to pick the [E] sound right
You do want to have the chord changes [Abm] right
As in, you know, it's a beautiful fingerpicking song actually
Arpeggio style [C] I would say
[Eb] So you want to have the transitions from chord to chord
You want to have [E] it really cleanly and smoothly [C] and so on
So those [F] would be the details [Eb] to pay attention [D] to
Other than that, just a great song to add to your repertoire
[Eb] If you can, of course, sing it
[Bb] They seem pretty high for [E] four males I [B] think
But we'll see
Anyway, so this and [Eb] more obviously in the lesson
which you can check out at Total Guitar
So feel free to drop in there
