Why hello there everyb-
Sorry about him.
Listen, all real men need to know how to play at least one Sheryl Crow song.
So while this may be a mistake today, we're going to learn to play my favorite mistake.
But before we do, I hope you don't mind if I take just a moment to thank the following people for signing up for the
Patreon supporter of the Cause Club.
Mr's Alan Chavis, James Isaacson, and Wayne Richards.
Gentlemen, thank you very very very
much for your kind support.
And if you would like to find out what that's all about, the link of course is in the description.
All right, thumb guys, take your thumb, for you non-thumb guys, we'll address it later.
Take your thumb and put it on the E string 7th fret.
You're gonna pluck that twice.
[D] Then your pointer finger is gonna be from D to E, the smallest four strings, right?
You're gonna strum mostly the D and G strings.
But if we get some sloppy higher strings in the 7th fret, that's great too.
Strum mostly the D and the G strings and
[Am] hammer on from 7 to 9 on the G string.
So, [B] two E7s,
D and G,
[A] G string hammers from 7 to 9, and [G] then
we want to hear mostly the E and B strings [Dm] on the 7th fret.
But if we [B] get some sloppy lower strings,
that's okay too.
Here we go.
And that happens over and over and over again, repeat, repeat, repeat.
And so on and so forth.
For you non-thumb guys,
you can just put your pointer finger all the way across on the 7th fret.
Just be careful not to pluck or strum the A string.
Everything else remains the same.
[Bm]
[Em] [Bm] That is level one.
For level two, we're gonna start [B] incorporating this kind of a thing, right?
So it's a combination of letting up with your left hand so that you're muting stuff.
And just sort of dead-handedly letting your your floppy right hand flop away as you strum.
So there's no notes to be heard and we're gonna add it in two spots right between the two low E string notes.
So boom, chock, boom.
And then we do our hammer.
[E] Hammer, [Bm] chock, ting.
Boom, chock, boom, hammer, chock, ting.
[B] Go tell your mom about that one.
Boom, chock, [A] boom, hammer, [Bm] chock, ting.
Boom, chock, boom, hammer, chock, ting.
[B] [Bm] Thusly is level two [N]-ly.
Heading into the verse, I'm going to address the non-thumb guys first.
You may have noticed that when [Bm] we do this,
we're doing everything except the A string about our E minor shaped
B minor chord.
So let's just start with the regular bar chords and this might help us thumb guys with your navigation as well.
We're gonna start on A though, major, [A] with the middle finger.
So A
and B [Bm] minor.
[A] A
[Bm] B minor up to [C] C on the eighth fret down [G] to G on the third fret and back here.
[B] [Bm]
[E] Now the thumb guys, which is the same premise, [N] but we're not gonna involve the A string.
So starting on the A chord,
we're gonna have E5 and then your baby F shape on [A] 5 6 7.
A
up to B minor, which is gonna be E7 D9 and with your [Bm] pointer finger
[A] back to A.
[B]
D minor, you can see I'm [C] not as comfortable with this.
C
[G]
G
and up to your B.
[Bm]
[B] You'll notice that I did that last time.
We're sitting here basically at the B minor pentatonic position one spot.
[D] 7-10 7-9 7-9 7-9 7-10 7-10 [G] and in the in-betweeny parts between the verses,
you'll see them do a
any kind of B minor pentatonic riff you like.
I'm grabbing the G string and going 7-9 [Bm]-7 with the shimmery B and E strings.
[Bm] Landing on D9 and giving it a boom.
[A] A
[Bm] B minor, [A] A
B minor, [C] C
[G] G
[B] B minor.
[A] [Bm]
[Eb] Which brings us to the chorus and I see no reason not to just play the regular open chords here.
[D] D
[G] G
[Em] E minor
[C] C.
The second time there's no C.
There's a fun riff on the E minor [D] instead.
G
[G] G
[Em] E minor.
[A] It's gonna be D string 2 4 2 [Gb] open as a slide slide pull off.
[B] A2 back to D [D] open.
So D
[G] G
[Em] minor
[C] C
[D] D
[G] G
[Em] minor.
[D] Third [G] time is the same [Em] as the first [C] time and then you [G] hit G
but I'm gonna play Tom Petty G
[Em] which is middle finger on A2, ring finger on E3 and pinky finger on other E3 because we want to hear
[B] on the [G] B string.
[C] C and then we're back [D] into the verse.
So chorus one time through.
[G] D
G
[Em] minor
[C] C
D [G] G
E minor.
[D] D
G
[Em] E minor.
C [G] Tom Petty G.
[C] C back to your action [B]
[B] [Bm] and so on and so forth.
[D] This bridge is fantastic for fun and profit.
I'm just gonna use baby F shapes.
No E string thumb guy or bar chord
including B minor which doesn't much look like a baby F shape, but it's the minor [B] version of your baby F shape.
7 7 7 [Bm] 9.
So B minor
B flat major.
That's one fret lower and the [Bb] major version and you're gonna add
[F] the pinky finger on the baby E string eighth fret before you go down to regular F
and G [G] two frets higher.
I like to add the sus4 on the G string on [Bm] the G.
Here we go.
First half B minor
B [Bb] flat major
[C] [F] F
[G] G
Second [Bm] half B minor
[Bb] B flat major
[F] F and
[Em] entire E minor before you go into your [D] chorus like normal and [C] so on and so forth.
[Gb] So you chorus chorus chorus chorus until the end even when she's not singing like it's a chorus including the
[A] and [G] including the until the very end when she
[C] a
whole bunch of times like three or [G] something.
[C] But you end on [Bm] B minor anywhere you want to play B minor and that's all there is [Eb] to say about that.
This is harder than it looks.
Thank you so much for being here.
I hope that was fun and helpful and I will see you next time with more stuff.
