Hey everyone, it's John again and it's actually Christmas Day, 2008, about 830 at night.
[G]
[G#] So for the last [G] 15 minutes or so I've been [N] trying to fine tune Amarillo by [G] Morning,
and it's sort of the guitar piece that came up for it.
Hope you like it.
That's the reason I make these, is so if you like it you can copy it and play it yourself.
So I'm going to cover it [Dm] and then [F#] afterward I might go back and show you some of the trickier [N] parts, if I have some time.
So you can play it yourself.
So here we go.
[D]
[Bm] [G]
[A] [D]
[Bm] [G]
[A] [C#] [F#m]
[A] [D] Amarillo [F#m] by Morning, [G] up from San [D] Antonio
Everything [F#m] that I've got [G] is just what I've [A] got on
[D] [A] [G] The sun is high in [A] that Texas sky, [D] I'll be bucking at [A] the [G] count of fare
[D]
Amarillo [A] by Morning, [G] Amarillo [A]
I'll be [D] there
[G] [A]
[D]
[G] [A]
[F#m] [A] [D] They took my saddle in [F#m] Houston, broke [G] my leg in Santa [D] Fe
Lost my wife and [F#m] a girlfriend [G] somewhere along [A] the way
[D] [A] I'll [G] be looking for aid when [A] they close that gate, [D] I hope [A] that judge ain't [G] blind
[D] Amarillo by [A] Morning,
[G] Amarillo's [A] on my [D] mind
[F#m] [G]
[F#m] [A] [E]
Amarillo [G#m] by Morning, [A]
up from San [E] Antonio
Everything that [G#m] I've got [B] is just [A] what I've [B] got on
Ain't [A] got a dime [B] but what I've got is mine, [E] I ain't rich, [B] but Lord [A] I'm free
[E] Amarillo by Morning, [B] Amarillo's where [E] I'll be
[A] [B] [E] Amarillo by [B] Morning, [A] [B] Amarillo's [E] where I'll be
[F#] [E] [G#m] [D] [A]
[B]
[E] [G] [G#m]
[D] [A] [B]
[E]
[Em] Alright, so [N] let me show you sort of the riff, because there's a key change in there which just makes things crazy.
So let me just show you sort of [D] the
[G]
[A] [C] that's the [G#] main thing you need to remember.
You can get the chords online, I go to countrytabs.com, [D] but basically what I'm doing is playing a D chord,
and I'm putting my pinky down here on the 5th fret.
[A] That's the note I want for the melody is that [D] 5th fret, that A note.
Then I go
what I'm doing is I'm just [Bm] using
right there, my 3rd finger, that would be my 7th fret,
and just those 3 strings, [D] and [A] then 1st finger back on 5th [D] fret, so
then D chord, [A] Dsus
what would that be, D2?
[D] [G] G.
But I'm leaving
when I play this G here, I'm not putting it
my 3rd finger on the 3rd fret of the E string, I'm putting it on the B string.
Because that's what I want.
That'll be
[A] A.
[D] [E] [A] [D]
[C#m]
[A#] See [A] what I'm doing there?
I'm playing an A, but I'm moving my 3rd finger [C#] down, [D]
[C#] sliding [D] it, or [Am] I don't have to slide [D] it.
[G]
[C#m] Playing an open E, [G] [C#m]
[D] [C#m] and then back to do the [D] same thing again.
[G] [A]
Then I do [C#m] sort of a walk down.
[G] [A]
3rd fret of my [F#] E, [F#m] 2nd fret of my [A] E, open E.
[D] And we're [A] real low [F#m] by morning, [G] up from San [D] Antonio.
[Gm] Alright, so that's that.
And then when I do the key change, let me show you here.
I'm down [E] here on my E.
[F#]
[E]
[C#]
3rd finger there, hammer, [Em]
[G#m] G sharp.
[F#] [E] Can you see that?
[D#m] [E] I'm on my B string, and I'm going [G] from [E] my
I guess that would be 7th fret to 5th fret.
[C] [G#m] [E]
And [A] then I'm going down here to A.
[C#m]
Just playing my B string, and then my G string.
And then [B] I go back down to B.
[Fm] [E]
[B] So, when I play the G here, I'm going to take my 3rd
or [D#] my pinky.
I'm going to play my G string, [E]
[E] and then come down,
[E]
play my B string, and come back.
[C] [E]
And the same thing again.
So I'll do it slowly here.
[G#m]
[E] [A]
[D#m] [E]
[N] So those are the two riffs you need to know.
And you can look up the chords, like I said, just by typing hammer low by morning on Google Chords, and you'll come up with it.
So, there you go.
