Hey George, it's a joy to have you on this program today.
Well the pleasure's all mine Bill, I'll tell you what.
I've admired your [F#] show for many many years [D#m] now and my old [N] friend Bess told you.
Oh brother.
We did a thing together and but this is a big thrill to be on your show today.
Well you know we've tried to make this happen before but man you stay [Em] busy.
Well it's uh they keep me pretty busy [Fm] for my age but you know I don't uh I get bored
you know and I can't wait to get back [D#] on the road and then [N] when I'm on the road I wish
I was home.
But we still enjoy it as a music business.
But aren't you glad you're at the age you can do as much as you want to do and you can
stay home as much as you want to stay home?
I sure am Bill, I've been blessed I'll tell you.
I've been very blessed to be uh in as good a shape as I'm in.
[A#]
So I thank [E] the good Lord every day for it.
Amazing grace [Bm] how [A] sweet [E] the sound that [C#m] [E] saved [F#]
a wretch [B]
like me.
[C#m] [B]
I [F#m] [E]
once was lost but [A]
now [E] I'm found.
[C#m]
Was blind [F#] [E] but now [B]
[E] I see.
T [C] [Dm] [Em] [F]
'was grace that taught [A#] my heart [F] to fear and grace my fear
[C] relieved.
[F] How precious [Cm] did [F]
[A#] that grace
[F] appear.
[Dm] The hour [F] I [C] first
[F] believed.
[C#] [F#] [C#]
[F#] Through many dangers,
[B] toils [F#] and snares.
I have already
[C#] come.
[B] [C#] T [F#]'was grace that brought [B]
us safe [F#] thus far.
[D#m]
And grace will [F#] lead [C#]
[F#] me home.
[D] [Em] [D]
[G] When we've been gone [C] ten thousand [G] years.
What's shining as the [D] sun?
[G] We've no less days [C] to sing
[G] God's praise.
[Em] Than when [G] we [D] first [Em] begun.

I saw on the CD where you did do a wonderful credit to our dear friend Vestal Goodman.
Yeah, she, what a sweet lady and of course y'all know that.
And the first, it's amazing you know when I had my bad bad car wreck.
I met Vestal one time when y'all were playing in the same place except a different building.
In Greensboro, North Carolina.
Right.
Yeah.
And she came over to my show and did come out and sang Amazing Grace.
And the whole atmosphere and everything changed when [E] she walked on that stage.
She can sing the glory down.
Oh, I'm telling you.
She'll make the level feel terrible.
And she went back you know when she left after the [N] song she went back.
Well I didn't see her no more for quite a few months.
And that was very brief.
But the first person I thought of when I came out of my semi-like coma or whatever you call it.
[D] The first thing my wife said I want to see Vestal.
And I [A] want to hear some gospel music.
[E] So she was a very [A] sweet lady.
