Hey guys, it's 9ow.
This is an instructional video on how to play my version of Amazing Grace on three string cigar box guitar.
I received a request for this from a friend on Cigar Box Nation, and I decided to put this up
to try to help out and help a beginner learn this tune.
I think there's a version, older version,
I have on the Nation and on YouTube that has a lower tuning than what this instructional video has.
I'm also going to put an extended version up so that there'll be something you can play along with later as you learn the notes.
And hopefully have fun with this tune anyway.
Alright, for the tuning on this we've got G D G on this particular video.
[G#] Top string [G] G
Middle
[D] string D
First
[C#] [G] string G
[Bm]
Okay, so to start we have a quick little intro.
It starts with the second string and we hit that open and then we note it on the second fret.
[D]
[Em] [D] [E] You [G] can also do it with a slide.
[E] [D] [E] [D] [Em] [C#]
[D] Okay, so from [E] the
Then you do the third and first string together, or you can just do the [G] first string to keep it simple.
[D] So the intro [E] [G] is
Now, my
The next part I handle [N] with a little flourish, and I'll kind of show you a couple of ways you can do that.
And you can learn whichever way is comfortable for you.
Second fret with the slide.
[G]
[Bm] That's a real quick slide and back from [F] the second to the third and [G] back.
And then open.
[A#] [G]
And then second to the fourth.
[Bm] Now a basic way to do that is just to
note it on the second fret with the slide.
Just slide up on second fret,
first string.
[G] Then open.
Then back second fret and slide to fourth.
[G#] [D] What you have [E] [G] is
Okay, then [A] back to second.
[G] And open.
This is on the first [A] string.
[G]
Then we're [N] going to second string, slide third fret to fifth fret.
[G] [D] [G]
[E] Then you hit the first string, and it'll [C] be on the fifth fret with the slide.
[D]
[Cm] [E] So what you [D] have [G] is
[A] [G]
[C] [Bm] Still second string, back to the second fret, second [E] string, then [D] open.
[G] Yeah,
[C]
[E] [G]
that sounds good to have that third and second there together.
[B] Okay, then you're going to [C#] repeat
most of [D] that.
[E] [G]
[A] [G]
Okay, here you're going [Bm] to slide
from the [G] fifth to the seventh.
[D]
I'm going to show what you have up to this point.

[C] [G] [E] [G]

[E] Okay, that's part one.
We'll split this into two parts.
Work on that one.
Get to this point.
We'll come back and we'll finish up and do the second part [N] and end it
