What would I like to do for you?
You know, I'm like truly the official Lucille Ball of
Hawai'i music.
Meaning that my [Bb] hair is always getting caught on [N] something backstage, my
zipper is broken, my heel falls off, something tragic always when I'm walking on stage.
And
I was with Ho'okena, you folks have had Ho'okena to this, before right?
They're my very dear
brothers and I was on tour with them and we were in front of a house of about 4,000 people
in Tokyo and I was singing this song, Palehua, which is a very famous song in Japan, so all
the [F] halau's love to dance it there.
Well, before I went on, they had this Japanese halau
that [D] was on, they had about 300 girls [N] with uliuli gourds going for days.
So that's like
600 uliuli gourds, because you have to times it by two.
So when I walked out, they said,
Amy-chan, you have to come down in the front because you are the star.
I said, no, just
I'll go in the back with the brothers because I'm huge on stage.
And Japanese women are
so beautiful, they're so petite, but I just look like this Amazonian woman next to them.
So I said, just put me in the back with the brothers, I'm all good with that.
No, no,
no, you're the star.
So I'm like, oh, this is not good.
So I walk out on stage and I
see like a trillion tiny little feathers everywhere from the [Gb] uliuli gourds and I'm like, this
is so not good.
It [A] was like a scene from the Fifth [Eb] Element.
You know when that lady
comes out, that big [Bb] Amazonian woman, she's going
she's making [Ab] all that, whatever she's
[N] doing.
That's what I felt like.
So I have this fabulous spotlight on me in this flawless
purple holoku and I walk out and I see the feather.
Just for me.
Coming, coming closer,
closer, closer, closer.
I sucked that feather in so hard.
It lodged between my vocal cords and I've never had no control over my voice.
I opened it and I went
and all the beautiful Japanese girls are all posed on stage.
[D]
I was so embarrassed and nobody [N] speaks English or Hawaiian in the audience.
They don't speak
Japanese.
So nobody has any idea what is going on on stage with me.
And Ho'okana is playing louder
and louder and louder.
And I'm trying [A] to get this wedge of feather out of my throat,
[D] gagging on stage.
We [G] are featherless here in Kailua.
[D]
But you never know, I almost sucked a Christmas bulb up at Windward Mall.
Because they're all in front of me.
[F] I'll just shut up.
If anybody wants to dance, just pull [D] up this.
