Start Jamming...
[F] I don't [E]
[N] want to go to sleep ever again
Think of all the fun we could be having
I don't want to waste my time lying in bed
I'm not tired
I guess [G] it all sort of started just from me singing songs to him.
Naturally, you know, [C] my [G] husband and I would sing to [Am] him
just like as much [C] as we talked to him, really, [D] just to, I don't know,
[G] entertain him and communicate with him, [C] especially when [G] he was really little.
And [Am] some of the songs [A] started from [D] that.
Whoa!
[G] And then at the same time, [D] my dad,
[G] like, we talked about doing, just [C] recording, doing some little [G] recording together.
My dad's a musician.
My [Em] dad inspired me a lot.
When Amy first [Gm] came up with the idea, it was for my birthday, my [Eb] 60th birthday,
and she said, I want to give you a recording session.
I want to go record some of [Bb] those songs you used to sing to us when we went to sleep at night,
like Goodnight My Love and [F] things like that.
And my brother Tom, who got me [C] started [Bb] in music,
[Gm] she [F] said to me, would you think Uncle Tom would like to [Gm] come?
And I'm like, yeah.
And [Cm] so it was, to me it was awesome because the way this all started [Bb] out,
we were just going to do a little family project, come down and record about four songs.
Now that it's evolved to this, I'm overwhelmed, to be quite frank.
My dad, I know especially, was really happy [Cm] to be able to, like,
be on [Bb] the scene and watch me [Ab] work
because he is a big fan of me and has followed my career.
But he's never gotten to really see it firsthand in [Bb] the studio part.
That's always just very private.
[Ab] This was [Bb] us all working [Abm] together
on a project that we were [Bbm] all really excited about [Eb] and that we get to keep
for the rest of our lives and remember that.
And [Bb]
it's just been [Cm] extremely good
[C] for my heart and [B] for my family too.
Just watching [Em] the interaction between Amy and her dad and Amy and her [D] sisters,
[B] it's funny how [A] nobody is starstruck.
[G] Her sisters are very opinionated and also [D] very talented.
[B] And just being here with the whole family and doing [C] the whole family thing
was, [G] it wasn't like we were doing something [D] for the outside world necessarily.
It was [C] more just for the family, but it's become something more, I think.
[D] We tried the whole time to have sort of a
[Em] musical [D] approach that was enjoyable
and creative and [G] not
always silly, you know, just try to keep some
musical [A] integrity kind of throughout the whole thing as [C] well as having a good time.
Will [G] is an amazing producer.
[D] I'm so happy that
we did [C] this together.
He's got the right [G] mind
for this kind of creativity.
Like, [D] I wanted this to be something
that was [A] not just, you know, [C] like anything.
[Am] We played toys as instruments [C] and lots of fun
mallet instruments and just had a really good time.
