[D] Hi, I'm Al Pettoway.
I'm here at the Holmes Fun Studios.
I'm glad to be back.
They do such a great job here.
I'm just really excited that they want me to come back and do another episode of the Appalachian Fingerstyle guitar.
It's not a linear thing.
It's not [Am] like [C#] going
[E]
[A] [E]
And so the scale from a G, to get that much of the melody, [E] is two open strings, two fingered strings on the fourth and third [C#] frets, [A] [C#m] and then coming back.
[G] So really it's this chord, [D] but you're playing it like this because this string has been tuned down a whole [C] step now.
[Am]
So we [G] come from this G position, [D]
and then [C] C, and the [D] melody here goes
[G] But my basic chord can just stay locked in.
[C]
[F#m]
You can see I'm using those open [G] strings again.
[D]
[F#m] And then we come back to this G, [G] but we fill it out just like that, where we started.
So here's the B section [F] again.
You can see instead of using this position, I'm switching to this position.
We're really playing the same basic chord, G, [G] and then the B note, and then I'm using these fingers for melody.
[D] [C] [D] [G]
