How's it going guys?
Today I'd like to do
the first solo from
Song spooky by Atlanta rhythm section try to get a little insight to it
It's a very cool solo
Barry Bailey, I believe was the
Guitar player at that time very underrated very cool solo
Try to break it down a little bit in a short [E] period of time
But let's [G] play it full speed once and then get into it
[Bm] I
[A]
[B] [Bm]
[Cm]
[Gm] [Fm]
[Eb] [Fm]
[Eb] [Fm]
[Cm] [Bb]
[Cm]
[Bb] [G]
[Cm] [Eb]
[Fm] [Cm]
[Fm]
[Eb] Okay, [A] yeah the chords in that [F] one
for the for the song before the [Em] solo are e minor 7
lighter tone
[A]
813 and that [G] rhythm [Em]
[G] [Em]
[Gbm] [Em]
and stop part is a
E [Bb] diminished 7
[Db]
[Em]
[A] [Em]
[D] that fifth is
B minor 7 then it's going [Eb] to modulate up and we're going to get to the solo
So it's [Bb] just going to go from B minor [E] 7 to C minor [D] 7 a half step up [Eb]
and [Fm] during the solo
F minor 7
[Ab] [F] B flat [Gm] 13
[Ab] [D]
[E] [Ab]
[Eb] This stop part is going to be F
[D] diminished 7
[Ab]
Okay, that's the this is the chords behind the solo
[A] Solo itself is like I said, it's cool.
[G] It kind of starts out in [D] this pattern 4 of F.
It's all F
minor pentatonic
With some little [Ab] other things thrown in there, but that's mainly what it is.
[F]
[Cm] So this
This little [D] piece of that pattern
Actually, there's a 6 thrown in there, too
It's cool to throw a couple little color tone like a major 6 then with the minor pentatonic
[E] In this case, it's a [A] D right here
[F] [Cm]
[B] Then it kind of goes to the pattern below which [E] is 3
[F]
For a little piece because [Ab]
[Fm] [Eb]
it's major 6 again
[E] Moves up [Cm]
[N] and that's kind of like pattern 2
[Gm]
Kind of noodles in that pattern 2.
I'm noodling but he [G] doesn't but he moves up to that.
It's kind of that same [G] theme
Uses that D that major 6 again
[Cm]
[Gb] Then slides down [E] into the 1 the [F] pattern 1
when we all know
[G]
[Eb] [C]
[E] There's a heavy harmonic there
[F] [A]
[F] The cookie note there [E] like that
[F] [E]
[Db] [C]
[A] and I [F] hear a little trill in that part [B] and a backwards rake.
It's just very [F] quick
[D] The next [Db] section it goes to [E] a major [B] and I call it like the pattern 5 [E] or major
Don't have major
[Eb] And it does a little section there [A] or if you do the cage thing [F] with G
[E] the G [Ab] shaped F [Dm] but
[F]
[Dm] [Gb] Think it was back to kind of pattern [D] 1
[Db] [Eb]
[Bm] [B] Then it does like a little 6
[Bb]
Shape [A] like [Eb] [Bb] oh my ear.
I'm gonna sound like a B major forward [D] once it does [Bb] that
[F] Just walks up chromatically to the F
[Bb] Big slides on the last [B] one.
[C] [Eb]
[D] [Gb] [Eb]
It's on a [Cm] trill
It [F] kind of pops at the F at the [E] end
[Cm]
[N] Let's play that full speed.
You know what we did it full speed.
Let's play it half speed
[Dm] [Cm]
[Bm] [Gbm]
[Cm]
[Gm]
[Fm]
[Eb] [Fm]
[Ab] [Gm]
[Eb] [Fm] [C]
[Bb] [Cm]
[Bb] [Fm] [G]
[Fm]
[Bb] [Dm] [Fm]
[Ab] [Cm]
[Abm] Okay
Good luck with
