Start Jamming...
[Ab] We heard [C] this song when [Gb] we started working on it in Knoxville.
[Ab] [G]
I remember I drove by and put the sound check.
[Em] [C] It was [Gm] kind of when it was [E] called Darkness for the longest time, but [G] now it's called Head Full of Doubt.
[Gm] And we [Bb] have not [G] heard it before, [Gm] I promise.
We have never played this song for anybody.
[G]
You're next.
Justin.
[D] [G] Oh, no, come on.
Let me get some more of those keys and some of those vocals, Justin.

[D] [C] [E] Check, one, two, check.
Let me get the vocals on back here, Justin.
See, the thing about the new record was [D] when [C] Seth and I initially went in with a lot of these [G] songs,
[C] they weren't songs [A] we were working on on the road, so we went into the studio and had [Bb] everything,
every instrument available [Gm] for whatever we were feeling while we were in the studio with Winston Saylor.
[G] And for the demos, for what we were, to finish writing,
he had [Bb] on the drums, which is kind of what we gravitate towards [G] to support,
because we didn't [Ab] have bass, we didn't [G] have cello, just the two of us working these things out.
So what [Gm] happened on the record, [D] the reason you don't hear the same performance in his live,
[Ab] because we really rooted [Eb] it pretty heavily.
We didn't mean to, [Bb] really.
It just [Gm] happened.
We just rooted it in the piano and drums, the [G] beat.
So [Ab] we were just like, I've got a [Gm] pocket, let's just roll with it.
Let's go to make more records, write more songs.
And who knows where it would go.
But this is one [Em] of the songs we were [D] doing.
So everybody has this [Eb] answer, how we came [G] up with that.
And I think when we went into the studio, I assume, and I was just about to ask some of the [C] questions Rick asked,
I think he was [Gb] like, what are you doing?
I see you two and you're on a banjo and [G] guitar, and I was like, sure.
And then he [Bb] kind of warmed up.
[G]
Just letting you [C] all know the [G] concept.
So I don't know [D] how we did it, what did we [G] do?
This song's called Head Forward, Love Down.

And the [G] fire breath [D] they tell you puts a [C] wall in my [Em] spine.
And it [G] flies by [D] me, [C] and it flies [Em] by, and I'm touched by [D] those.
[C]
They're [G] waters free, but [C] they can't [G] see it.
The [C] bird in [G] the cage got broken, [D] and [C] the man did that [D] song about [G] the free.
And [C] there was [G] a kid, who [C] had pulled [G] a gun.
So I [C] screamed, I [G] died, and the [D] light flew [C] back on the [D] fire.
