[F] [G]
[Gb] Hey, what's up you [Db] guys?
Marty Schwartz here from [N] GuitarJams.com.
Happy to bring you another bluesy lesson.
This one's cool because it's kind of like a 12 bar blues, [Bm] but instead of the first groove,
the one chord, it's like a riff.
And it's a classic blues riff.
So it'll be fun for you to play.
It's not too hard.
And then the progression that goes with it.
So you know, [A] add a little variation to [B] some blues jams that you may [Gb] be doing.
Alright, here's a fun blues
[Bb] [Ab] that's very popular obviously.
[Bm] Kind of based on the 12 bar, but instead, [Gb] the one chord, instead of [G]
that
[Gb] kind of normal
groove, it's like a riff, a lick.
And then eventually it switches to the four chord of the blues and the five chord of the
blues, just like a standard blues.
But the one chord is a lick instead of the groove.
And we're in G.
So it's the G minor pentatonic is where the lick comes from.
And we're going to put our ring [G] finger [A] on [B] the fifth fret [G] of the A string.
[D]
Coming right from this G minor [Ab] pentatonic right [Dm] here.
Starts right there.
[E] And then we're going to go up to the [Bm] next note up the scale, which is the third fret
on the D.
[F]
[C] And then we're going to go back to the original [D] note [A] like [Dm] this.
[N] Right?
And back to that one [F] again.
[E] So it's just going back like [Dm] that.
[F]
[G] And then finally on the root, a G note, fifth fret on that D string right there.
[Dm] Check it out.
[G] [E]
[Gb] [F] [B]
[F]
[G] [A]
[Dm] [G]
[C] [D] [F]
[G] [C]
[D] [F] [G]
[C] [Dm]
[G] [B]
[Dm] [G]
[C]
[D] [G]
[Gm] [B]
[G]
[D]
[C]
[D]
[B] [G] [E]
[D] [Ab] [D]
[Dm] [G] [Gb]
[F] [G]
[B] [Eb] Check it out.
[F] [B]
[Dm] [G]
[Bb] [F]
[G] [Bb]
[F] [G]
[Gm] [F]
[N] Okay.
So then, like in a lot of other blues, that four chord, which [G] is C, [Eb] I was playing it on
the A string.
It's [G] going to be easier to do it up here, but it's the exact same thing.
[Ab] Eighth fret, tenth fret.
[Gb] And then you're adding your pinky to the twelfth fret on the A [Cm] string.
[C] So palm muting.
[Cm] [C]
Back [D] to G.
Instead of the riff, we're doing [G] the same thing right here, [B] which is third fret, fifth
fret, and adding that [G] seventh.
[Gb] Then you got the five chord, which is the [D] D.
[G]
Just like a normal blues.
[Eb] [G]
[C] [D] [B] But anyway, you hit the [D] G.
Duh, [E] duh, dee, dee, dee, dee, [A] dee, dee, dee, dee, dee, dee.
So [G] watch.
G, G.
[N] Then you can just go from the third fret on the [F] D, [E]
[Eb] [D]
[G] [Em]
[Eb] [D]
[Db] [D] [B] and you can play [A] the open G along with
it if you want.
But so [Ab] you've [D] got
[C] [Cm]
[C] [D] G.
[F] Three, three, [E] three, two, two, [Eb] two, one, one, [D] one, oh, oh, oh.
[C] [Dm] Three, four, five on the A string.
[G]
So you went [D] three, four, five, and then you're right there for [C] that [F] note of the lick again.
[G] [Em]
[Dm] [D]
[E] [Dm] [G]
[B] [F]
[D] [Gb]
[A] [Cm]
[G]
[D]
[C]
[Cm]
[G] [C] [Em]
[Eb] [D]
[C] [D] [F]
[A] All right, [N] that was it.
Hope you got something from it.
Remember, I've got those bonus blues lick [Bm] lessons down in that link right below this [N] box.
Thanks for all the support and all that stuff.
I really appreciate it, and I hope to see you in another lesson real soon.
See you later.
