Babes In Toyland (1995 Documentary) chords
Start Jamming...
My name is Cap Yellen and I'm a Sagittarius.
[E] [F#] [G]
I'm Lorraine Herman.
[F#] I'm a Leo.
[G] [F#]
My name is Laurie Barbero and I'm a Sagittarius.
[E] We're Babes in Toyland.
[A#]
[E] [B] I play guitar and [G] sing.
[E] [G] I play drums and sing.
[B] [Em] [E] I
[G] play bass and a little else.
[G]
[E]
The name of the new [A#] record [D] is Nemesisters.
[B]
[A] Nemisisters has a really diverse sound.
I [B] think all the songs are very different.
[C#m] It's kind of [D]
[F] a
Just like a [A] carnival, there's many attractions.
[G]
[B]
[A] The new record Nemisisters,
when I went into it, I wanted a lot of spontaneity
as far as [G] the writing of the lyrics.
[E] I wrote most of them in the studio,
which is putting a lot of [G] pressure on yourself,
but I work [E] better under pressure, I notice that always now.
The direction Babes in Toyland are going with this record
[B] is probably just kind of trying new [F] stuff,
experimenting with vocal harmonies and stuff [G#] like that
and just relaxing and we're kind of relaxed.
We feel like we're [G] musicians now
instead of people playing musical [F#] instruments.
It's [F] a collaboration of all three of us together.
Maureen, this is the [A] first time she gets to play her bass
on all the songs.
She played before, but it was songs that we had written
before [E] she joined the band.
She just kind of had to pick up from where that was left off
for Fontenelle, because all those songs were already written.
So it's really exciting and fresh for us three [F#] to work together.
[N] Nemesisters sounds like all our mutated brains
put in one [E] big pot of soup.
[B] [N] In the video, Sweet 69, we all wore different wigs and stuff.
[E]
[B] It's a [Em] visual image.
[E] [A] This is for energy boosting, lots of sugar, more sugar,
and this all here has made me feel like I'm going to have a lot of diarrhea.
[E] We're wearing cool costumes, long white gloves.
[Em]
[B] I had this wig [C#] on, [B] little [E] headband, early [A#] 60s.
[E]
[B] [E] This set was all black and white with circles and stuff, real mod.
We had dancers around that danced around us some extras,
and that was really, really great.
[G]
[E]
We get to [Em] dress up.
I actually wear makeup and [G] false eyelashes.
[Em] I've never worn makeup ever.
We did a lot of shimmying, so my stomach was hurting a lot.
[A#] [B] [A#]
[E] [B]
[E] [C#] [E]
[D#]
[E]
[G#] We covered We Are Family, because I know Lori really likes that song.
I like it too.
[A] We Are [G]
Family is like this [D] disco song,
and I got to play this funky [C] bass on [E] it.
It's the first song that we ever all sang on.
[A] I say [G] I'm
[E] [D] not the true [C] elite.
We [G] recorded in Minneapolis, and [D] our photography was done [C] by Minneapolis [D] people.
[A]
It's [D] a really, really friendly, friendly city.
[C] People [A] actually walk past each other and say hello.
[D] [A]
[G] [D]
[E] There's the building [A] I was conceived in.
[G] I think a lot has to do [D] with it being the winter.
When [C] it's cold out, there's really not much else to do than to play an instrument.
[E] [B] I play guitar in the band [C] because actually I wanted to sing,
and mainly I wanted to write, so I decided to pick up the guitar and play it.
I think more girls should pick up guitar, though,
especially if they want to sing too.
It's a good form of self-expression.
It makes you feel better.
It's nice and loud.
It gets anger out.
[A#]
[Gm] [A] [A#]
[B] [E] Since I was young, and I always, every time I went to rock shows
or saw bands on TV or whatever, or even listened to music,
I always listened or watched the drummer.
[G]
The drummer [F#] to me is just the coolest.
So I decided that I was going to be a drummer someday,
especially after I heard Alice Cooper, Hey Little Flies.
That's the song that I decided, I'm going to be a drummer.
[B]
[E] I taught myself how to play bass from my brother.
[N] He got his hand stuck in a pasta machine, and he played bass,
and he couldn't play it anymore, so he gave it to me,
and that's how I kind of started [E] playing bass.
[F#] [N] My favorite thing about being in the band is playing [D] live.
[E] [G] [A]
[A#] [Em] [A]
[A#] [E] [G] [A#]
[E] If you see our live [G] shows, they're pretty much full frontal assault [A] type [B] action.
[A] [B]
[C] [F#]
[E] [F#] Games in Toyland's following in Europe is really nice,
especially in the UK, it's really strong.
And Germany, we have really good following, pretty much all over [G] Europe.
[E]
[G#] Europe is a strange thing.
I remember the first time I went over there, I kind of got a big [E] head,
and I'm like, oh, we're famous.
This year's going to be a lot of touring.
We start [N] in April in the Midwest, and then we go to Europe for a month,
and then we come back in May, and we'll be touring the States,
and then we'll be going back to Europe, and then we'll be coming back to the States,
and then we're going to go to Australia, and Japan, and New Zealand.
So we're going to be pretty damn busy.
[E] [G] [A] [G]
[Em] [A] [B] When I was a little girl, I liked [E] playing with cars and [D] trucks,
[G] and climbing the trees, and [E] playing in the dirt,
and going looking for [A] grasshoppers, [E] and running around and doing the things that the boys did.
[C#] I didn't do too [F#] many girl things.
I guess I was pretty shy, and [A]
[E] I had to wear glasses, and I felt like that.
[B]
[F#] I was in the Brownies, and the Girl Scouts.
I remember I just played outside a lot.
I was a tomboy.
I rode motorcycles, you know.
[E] [A#] To stay together [N] as long as we have as a band,
none of us have ever really fought at all, and we're very compatible.
And when you tour so much and everything, you just can't help it,
but love one another right [A] now.
[G]
[D] [Am]
[A] [G]
[D]
[C] Say bye.
