Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, you may have noticed that there's a really kind of unique older guitar
Sitting on the stage right here.
I need to tell you just a little bit about that.
That's a
1957
Gibson cutaway guitar
That's the first year that Gibson actually put a pickup and cut that away to where they can play high on the neck
I'm [Gb] telling you this because my dad gave this to me when I was 19 years old and
I hadn't been able to play this in many many years and
I finally had it restored and I got to play this recently
Hadn't played it in all these years
We're y'all are going to be a part of something and see then I'm gonna make you aware of
We're gonna be filming a brand new video
And going to be released to the airwaves here in the near future
And we're gonna make reference of this guitar and my hopes that I can pass it down to the next generation
And the following generation to keep real country music [B]
alive.
[Bb] I
Get to play this old guitar
[Cm] My daddy gave to me
It [F] was late in a time
Before I was born [Eb] in [F] 1953
[Bb]
I'd like to have been
around back then
[Cm]
See what I could see
[F] Maybe understand just how the man
[Eb]
Love [F] of music to [Bb] me
Think I carry [Eb] it on
Playing [Bb] my song
The way [F] my daddy did when I was a kid in [Bb] our country home
a thousand [Eb] memories
Flowing [Bb] through [C] me
[Bb]
I [F] hope I'm good enough like my daddy was [Eb] back in [F] 1953
[Bb]
Sometimes I feel a presence
[Cm]
Coming over me
[F] When I play this guitar from my heart
[Eb]
Really
[Bb]
Who play this old guitar
[Cm] When my days are done
[F] Will they still have the love for the music [Eb] from an old country [Bb]
song?
[C] Hope they carry [Eb] it on
Playing [Bb] my song
The [F] way my daddy did when I was a kid
[Bb]
A thousand [Eb]
memories
Flowing through [Bb] the breeze
I [F] hope they're good enough like my daddy was [Eb] back in
