[E]
Welcome [Ebm] back to the Headbangers Ball and right now [Ab] joining us on the set are a band [D] that
a lot of people [Ab] have been talking [Gb] about, they're hearing a lot about, haven't gotten to meet
you yet, and it's the band [E] Bad For Good and one of the things that a lot [Fm] of people mention
first [G] to talk about your [Bb] name, the band, is [Ab] obviously like the age, because you guys are
young, why don't you introduce the band, [B] Danny, and [Gb] tell how [Bb] old everybody is.
I'm Thomas McLaughlin, I'm 13.
[D] Stanley [E] Cookson, 16.
Brooks Wachman is 15 and Doc Young behind is 30.
[Bm] No, 14.
14.
I'm 10.
We get a little [F] confused sometimes.
Now how long has the band been playing?
I mean you guys are really young.
We've been together [N] close to two years now.
Really?
Yeah.
Now the one thing
I've known him for a long [E] time.
Now the one thing [N] that I heard about you is once people say, okay, these guys are young,
I haven't had the opportunity to see you live yet, but I know you played the Concrete Foundation
a couple weeks back and everybody was saying, this band has got so much attitude, and I
mean, the word that keeps on being brought up is attitude.
We like it.
We don't, [Dbm] well, you know, we go out and do what we [Bm] do, you [E] know?
We just continue.
Now Thomas, most of the people would have seen you from the Steve Vai video.
[Dm] Yeah, I love him.
You played in that.
How [Db] did you get hooked up with Steve?
Because I know he also [Ab] produced your record.
Yeah, I met [Db] him back in 88.
Donald loves [Abm] playing backstage and one of his roadies walked by and says, come here, Steve.
He's seen the tour bus.
[Db] So I just goes in and played for a little rock man.
[Dbm] You have an accent.
Where are you from?
England.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Now you're living in the States?
[Eb] I'm staying at [Dbm] my house.
His house.
And [E] you [Db] were on different strokes.
Yeah.
Yeah, [N] I did that when I was, I did that, it was like six years ago.
Back when you were a kid.
Yeah, back when I was small and [Eb] now [Bb] I've got all this.
All the years of experience.
We're going to be talking to these guys and seeing all the future and talk about the record.
But right now, let's play a [Ebm] video from them.
[Fm] Here's [Eb] Bad For Good with 19.
You want to rock.
You got it, [N] Will.
What?
[E]
Just some lyrical pose.
All right.
With Bad [Abm] For Good and you just saw the video 19.
And how did you [Gm] like doing a video?
It was great.
It was great.
We did it with Nigel Dick.
It took [Bb] like seven hours, [E] seven, eight hours.
We just [D] went in and did it.
Now, is it hard for you to sometimes get respect?
I mean, a lot [Ab] of people [Dm] say, oh, these guys are so young and this and that.
But I mean, you've all got a lot of talent and you've been actually playing [E] for a long time.
Yeah, I think, you know, people that [A] I'm sure like, you know, there's some people that just say, you know, no, it [E] couldn't happen.
But all they [D] have to do is just come see us play.
[Em] I mean, if they don't believe that, they've [D] got a problem with [Gm] reality, not us.
[Am] [Bb] Now, do you have any tour plans?
[Em] Not right [Dm] now.
Do you have to like if you [E] guys go on tour, [Gb] do you have to [N] do it like during summer?
Are you going to bring a tutor with you?
You [G] got plans yet?
We have a tutor and one [A] parent for me.
[Ebm] Have you gone back to [G] school yet?
[Ab] Are you going [Abm] to school this year?
Are people treating you a little bit differently now?
Well, I've never [B] gone to really like actual school.
I've [E] only been tutored and gone to a home [D] study [A] school.
And are you living in America now?
Both places.
So you're going to school out here?
Yeah.
Okay, [E] let's talk a little bit about the record.
You've got Steve Vai producing it.
Yeah.
And did he offer it or did you say, [Dm] hey, let's get Steve to do this?
[E] No, I'm still on.
Still half and half.
It was a great relationship [Dbm] for the record, you know, everything [Dm] was open.
Was this your first time [E] ever being in the studio before?
[D] Yeah, [A] I've recorded [Ab] before.
What other stuff have [Bb] you done?
Demos.
Okay, [Dm] we're going to come back and talk to Bad For Good when the Headbangers [N] Ball continues.
But right now, here's The Cult with Love For Moving Machines.
Here are the guys in Bad For Good as the Headbangers Ball [G] continues.
And you played the Concrete Foundation thing.
I guess you just did Rip Magazine's anniversary [N] party.
What about tour plans?
Any tour plans yet?
We're still working on it, you know.
I know we're going to be in November 2nd.
First, we're going to be [A] in Dallas with Boyce & Colton's Slaughter in November.
So we're going to do that show.
We're doing Not Scary Farm coming up.
That's a big [D] thing in LA.
Yeah, we're doing [E] that when it's a Friday or Saturday.
Are there any bands out there?
I'm going to play [Em] the solo on [E] some R.I..S.E. Oh yeah, bring your guitar on some [Em] of the R.I.S.E. Some Radio Mike? Are there any bands that would be [D] ideal for you to go out on the road with that you'd like to open up for? That's what we were [Em] thinking about that before and we couldn't really We were trying to think of something that [A] has the same sort of [Eb] age category that we have. Because our music has Because we're [Dm] young, we're going to attract a lot of young fans. But [E] then it's like some of [Dm] the music stuff and some of the records got a little You know, scary kind of thing. So you got that respect too. It's hard. [D] We have a different sort of [Eb] crowd than most people. Now, although your age, you [Abm] especially, I know you've been playing for quite a while. How old were you when you [Dm] picked up the guitar? [E] You were four years old. Was your family in the music business or did they just [Bb] My mother was a violin player. [Dbm] Oh really? Yeah, she played the little violin. My [D] grandfather [Ab] was an accordion [Bb] player. [E] And there was always a guitar around the house. [Am] I've been as [E] odd as [D] a tricky one. So I just picked one. And when you were doing the acting, did you want to get into music then or did you Well I figured because it was actually because of the singing that I [C] got into the acting. [A] I used to do country [Dm] music a long time ago. When I was little. [Eb] [E] When you were a [D] kid again? Yeah, yeah. Do you use any of [Cm] that as a little [E] background? I mean for blue [Dm] stuff, using a little bit of country, is that some of the stuff you listen [Cm] to? Yeah, [Dm] I mean like Muddy Waters and stuff like that. [D] We all like that. Between the four of us, there's nothing that we don't listen to. Brooks is very into punk. I'm into disco. [Abm] Right on. [Gbm] More like a disco. More like a little [B] disco. A little disco now, man. A little disco now, man. [Abm] Yeah, just to cleanse the palate. That's right. Okay, [A] well good luck with [G] everything and stick with it. I [Bb] mean you guys, it's amazing. Like I [A] said, a lot of the people that are [Gb] talking about [Gm] you guys are talking about the [N] attitude and saying, you know, forget that these guys are young, they're just a butt-rocking little band. So good luck with everything and Charlie Brown Roundhead Tubes. What was that? Charlie Brown Roundhead [E] Tubes. For those of you Marshall, [N] you guys are There you go. ass-kicking sound. There [Em] you go. That's the good. Stick [E] around, more headbanging is coming. Later. [Ab] [D]
