_ _ Hey everyone this is Winston coming to you all with a piano tutorial of Bad Blood by Bastille.
You've heard it right, Bad Blood.
I've read all the requests and now I'm here to fulfill that.
Get ready for a great tutorial.
I'm going to start right off with the intro.
Also notice I just cleaned my keyboard.
It's also daytime so the lighting looks really cool.
Surreal.
So anyways, gonna get started with the intro. Let's go.
_ _ _ _ _ _ [C#] _
[F] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [Fm] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [C#] _ _ [N] _
Alright, let's get started with the intro.
First half, just left hand.
It's going to be four times on the F, three times on the Eb, and four [F] times on the Db.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [C#]
We're going to be [G#m] doing that throughout the entire intro.
The second half you're going to [G] be adding in right hand.
[Fm] Constant stream of eighth notes starting off with an F minor chord with Ab, C, F.
_ _ [D#]
Moving on to Eb, G, Bb, Eb.
[C#] And then Db with an F, Ab, Db.
[Fm] So putting it all together.
_ _ [C#] _
[D#] It seems pretty simple when you look at it right [N] now, but when you ultimately put two
hands together it will start off very difficult because the rhythms of the left hand and right
hand don't really complement each other.
So what I suggest is starting off very, very slowly, taking it section small piece by small
piece and ultimately it should be okay.
Moving on.
Alright, this is going to be the verse.
_ [Fm] _ _ _ _ _ _ [C#] _
[Fm] _ _ _ _ _ [D#] _ _ [Am] _
[F#] _ [Fm] Alright, so the verse.
_ _ Starting off with an F minor and then a [C] C on the left hand, [Cm] followed by another C [F] on
the right hand and then F, [Fm] G, Ab.
And then when you play the Ab on the right hand you're syncing it with the F again on
the left hand.
So again, C, C, G, _ C, C, [G] F, [Fm] G, Eb with the F.
[D#] And then Eb [C#] chord, Db chord.
And then you're going to [Fm] play that two more times.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [C#]
[Fm] And now the last time, same thing except [D#] instead of Eb, Db you're doing two Eb's instead.
[C#] Alright, so pretty simple verse.
Alright, it's going to be the transition. _ _
[Fm] _ _ [C#] _ _ [D#] _ _ _ [Fm] _
_ [C#] _ _ [D#] _ _ _ Alright, so the transition, a little complicated, but start [C#] off very simple.
Db major chord [Fm] into an F minor and [C#] back to Db.
_ So here I have Ab, Db, F, F, Db, Ab into [D#] an Eb chord.
Db, Eb, G, G, Eb, Bb.
[C#] So _ _ [D#] _ that's normal [Gm] speed.
And then after that we go back to a [C#] Db chord, _ except now we jump with the right hand to a triad.
Db, F, Ab, and [Fm] then F minor.
So here I have F, Ab, C.
_ [C#] _
_ [D#] _ _ So just now this is the exact same thing [F#] as the first half except an octave higher.
So all together, I'll play it one more [C#] time.
Two [Fm] chords, and [C#] _
[D#] to Eb, [C#] back to Db, triad, [Fm] F minor, [C#] triad, octave higher.
_ [D#] _ [F#] And that's it.
Alright, this is going to be the chorus.
It's going to be a little wacky sounding, but feel free to simplify it yourselves, [F] play
it the way you want it.
Just keep the [Fm] same chord progression.
_ _ _ _ [C#] _ _ _ [D#] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [Fm] _ _
_ [C#] _ _ _ [D#] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [G] Alright, so the chorus, starting off with an [Fm] F minor.
Right hand you're going to be playing like 16th note speeds, so pretty fast. _
_ Left hand I'm doing an [F] F octave into a C, F, [C] C.
So like just manipulating the 5 and [Fm] the 8 notes.
_ _ And then we just go to the same thing except [C#] Db, _ _ and then [D#] Eb. _ _
And I actually stop at this Bb to get ready to jump my left hand over to the top.
So _ _ _ _ _ _ here with my left hand I have Ab, G, [G] Ab, G, Ab, Db, Ab, [Fm] and then we go back down.
F minor, [C#] Db, _ [D#] Eb, stop at the Bb.
_ _ _ [F] It [D#] might be a little weird to get the sync down when you're doing left hand right hand
here because your left hand is probably not used to playing [D] melody.
So just take it easy, be patient, and that's the chorus.
Alright, this is going to be the bridge, last section.
You're going to have after the first chorus, the intro, verse, transition, chorus again,
and then this is going to come.
I'm going to take a more ballady approach to it, let me know what you think.
[C#] _ _ _ [Fm] _ _ _ _
[C#] _ _ _ _ [Fm] _ _ _ [A#m] _
[C#] _ _ _ [F] _ _ _ _ [C#] _
_ _ [Fm] _ _ [F] _ _ [Fm] _
And then chorus.
[C#] _ _ Okay, so this is going to be the bridge, not going to explain every single little detail.
I'm going to play [G] through it and then stop once in a while to explain some key points.
Starting off with a Db.
[Fm]
Right hand we have F, Ab into an F, [C#] C.
[Fm] And then we're going to go to F minor, same right hand.
_ _ [F] So here I use the Eb to transition into the next chord which is Db.
So again, _ _ _ _ [C#] _ same thing except [Fm] Db octave just an octave lower this time.
And then, _ [C] _ _ [A#m] so this is my transition to the second half.
Here I have F constant and then the top note I [Fm] just go down the scale. _ _
[C] _ _ [F] Sorry, hope you can [C#] see that.
And then moving on to the second half. _ _
_ So here I just have octave and then manipulating the, alternating the F, the 5 and the 8 note.
So _ _ [Fm] _ _ _ _
here I have the same thing, I just use the [D#] Eb to catapult myself to the next [C#] chord.
_ _ _ _ _ [Fm] _ _
So here, F minor and then [F] F, Eb, F, [Fm] Eb, C, [D#] D.
[A#] _ _ [F] So F, Eb, F, Ab, Bb and [Fm] then we go into F minor.
_ Which is the chorus.
Okay, so [N] I think that is actually the end.
So after the bridge you're going to run through the chorus and then you're going to run through the intro again.
And that's how they end, ironically enough they end with the intro section.
So that's Bad Blood.
