On the television part of the festival, [D] you know, that's what
Were [Db] there any Russian people?
No, [A] they were not.
They were invited.
But he sent a Russian pop music delegation to the [Abm] festival,
which is very funny [Fm] to us because it looked like more of [A] a political [Fm] thing than anything else.
[Eb] How did the Czechoslovakian people?
They were very nice to us.
[N] They seemed very much in favor of us due to our, you know,
our opposite poles politically, Russia and the United States,
so therefore they really appreciated our coming there, Americans coming there.
It was the first time that an American group had ever been to Czechoslovakia,
[F] and the kids really, [Eb] really dug it.
They buy the records over there, of course.
They hear your records all over the world.
No, they don't sell our records in [Bb] Czechoslovakia.
They play [B] them, of course.
They can get [Eb] them in Finland [Db] and Yugoslavia.
[D] It must be, you know, besides all of the recognition in this country,
that must be kind of a special thrill to go to a foreign country
and to be known and appreciated.
I think that would be very nice.
It was great because the audiences were just
[Bb] they're incredible.
They just
you know, it was a real joy.
It was a [F] real joy for them to be able [F] to see somebody from the West, you know,
and it was kind of a symbol of freedom to them, you know.
And they hear our [Db] records in the Voice of America.
I mean, they voice tapes and say hello to people in Russian [G] and Czechoslovakia.
Did you get a chance to talk to any of them?
Yeah.
They speak [D] English.
What kind of thing?
What do they ask you [C] about mostly?
Your homes and how much money you make [F] and stuff like that.
They want to know how much money you earn, really?
Speaking of money, you had a little [G] problem with the Czech money, [A] didn't you?
Spending it.
Well, they didn't allow us to take all of it, the income, home.
We had to spend half of the income we made there.
So in the remaining two or three hours we had in the country after we did [F] all of our work,
we had to run around [N] and try to get rid of this money, which is
What did you buy?
A little dentist box, about two suitcases and full of things.
They're beautiful.
They cost $120 in the States and we paid [Db] about $18 for them.
Yeah, [G] we really did.
It was also [B] the black market money.
[Em] How about the duty when you go back [N] to this country?
There's not much duty.
Duty-free.
Duty-free.
I just put my clothes in my new luggage and just walked in and said,
oh, yes, here's what I brought back.
I didn't buy anything.
