Easter 2020.
Many of you will be sharing this Easter
with your kids and with your grandkids for years to come.
You know, Gloria and I wrote a song 50 years ago.
We were expecting our little boy, our little baby,
and we were asking ourselves a question,
who in the world would want to bring a baby
into this kind of a world, so unstable?
We got looking historically.
You know, the world's never been very stable
at the very, very best.
Just one crisis after another.
And somehow the children of God have made it through that.
So we wrote this song.
How sweet to hold our newborn baby
and feel the joy and the pride that he gives.
But greater still the calm assurance
this child can face uncertain days,
not because the world is stable,
not because there's a crisis,
not because it's really quite scary,
but because of the resurrection and because he lives,
we can face tomorrow.
We recorded this several years ago
at the Billy Graham Center in Montreat, the Cove.
We sang the first verse of the chorus around a fireplace
with Cliff Barrels there, Ruth Graham,
and Bev Shea and all the homecoming singers.
And then we switched to the Billy Graham stage
in Nashville for a great crusade to do the last verse.
May you have a blessed Easter today.
How [G] sweet to hold [Bm] [Em] our newborn baby
[Am] and feel [Bm] the pride [Em] and the joy that he gives.
[D] But greater [Am] still the calm [C] assurance
[Bm]
[Am] we can [G] face uncertain days.
Hold [A] me.
[G]
We can face uncertain [C] days
[D] because he [G]
[Eb] lives.
Sing it with us.
And because [Ab] he [Cm] lives,
[Ab] I can [Db] face tomorrow
because [Ab] he [Eb] [Ab] lives.
All [Fm] fear is [Eb] gone
[Bb] [Eb] because I [Eb] know
[Ab] he [Ebm]
holds [Db] the future
[Dbm] and life is [Ab] worth [F] the living
[Bb] just [Eb] because [Ab] he lives.
And [A] then one day
[E] [Bm]
life's a [A]
war
if [E] pain [F] is
[Bb] [F] [Bb] [Eb]
worth
[Cm] [Bb]
[F] [Bb]
[Cm] [F] because [Bb] he lives.
[Eb]
Because [Bb] he [F] lives.
[Bb] All fear [F] is gone
[C] [F] [Cm] because [Bb] I [Cm] know
[Bb] he [Eb] holds the future
[Cm] and life [Bb]
is worth the living
[F] just because [Bb] he [C]
[Ebm] lives.
[C] [Bb] He [C]
lives.

[Bb] He lives.
