Do you know that your show is the biggest seller ever in the history of the Canberra theatre?
Good heavens.
And it's appealed to all age groups from 15 to 50.
Why do you think you're so popular to so many people?
I don't think there's any special reason for that, I just don't know.
I think maybe it's because we've spent a long time living here and a lot of people
are growing up with what we've done.
Things like that feel a nostalgic value there.
You were born in England.
Yes.
Do you view yourself as Australians or Britons? Oh yes.
We were brought up here.
You view yourself as Australians?
The most important part of anybody's life I think is when you're from about age three
And the most impression is made on you is at that age.
You know, you never forget them.
Well you left Australia in 1966 and since then, 67.
I think we're pretty much international now, we've just been everywhere.
Without any sort of set
But do you feel you're home now?
Yeah.
We think that this is, you know, we class this as our home with England because we were
born in England, it's only natural.
But this is definitely one of our homes.
You've been away for a long time now.
Yeah.
From the outside, has Australia changed?
No, I don't think it has.
Well, there's naturally more buildings.
There's more buildings but I don't think anything else has changed that much, you know.
What about breaks for musical groups?
Breaks for musical groups.
Oh yes, much better.
I mean there's a lot of great talent in Australia and it's amazing to see now that the chances
that when we were living here
Yeah, there's a lot of great talent in Australia.
is
much better to get it internationally than it was when we were, you know, that's
the reason why we had to go to England or America.
Because you don't have bands on anymore to help them.
No.
And my old man's a dancer.
I think bands are
Yeah, my old man's a dancer.
a
big handicap to all people.
