music and the arts and theatre, that's a good place to go for that.
[Bbm] We have people [Db] in this company who [Gb] saw the show when they were [B] children and whose dream
it was [Ab] to be part of the Phantom of the [Eb] Opera.
When I first saw the show, it was [Bbm] 2004 at the [Ebm] State Theatre in Pretoria in South [Ab] Africa
and I turned to [Db] the friend who'd given me [Bbm] the seat and I said, I [Ab] don't care what role
it is, [Db] I want to be part of that show one [Ab] day.
You know, I would have swept the stage but now [Bbm] I'm _ the [Ebm] Phantom. _ _ _
[Ab] _ My [Db] world _ has been [Gb] _ consumed, gloriously [Bb] so, by [Db] the world of Phantom [Bb] and so now I get to
[Ebm] time travel back [Fm] as it were and play young Christine _ [Ebm] [Db] and let me just tell you the feeling
that I had when that organ struck when I saw the show.
[Fm] Now I get that every day.
[Ebm] You can empathise with a character like [B] the Phantom whether you play him or not [Ab] because
we've all been rejected in some [Abm] way, not just rejected [Bbm] but finding [Ebm] redemption in the strangest
places [Gb] and with the [C] strangest people that you never [Db] thought you could connect with.
The whole show [Bbm] is about what it is to be human, broken or [Ebm] whole.
_ [Abm] _ [Ab] _
_ _ _ [F] Especially this piece [Eb] allows [Bbm] whoever is in the [Ebm] audience to suspend their [Cm] belief [Fm] and they
live for two and [Db] a half hours in the magic [Gb] that's created here and [Db] that's just really thrilling. _
_ [Ab] Falling in love with the soul as opposed to the outer [Eb] appearance of someone [Ab] and being
connected to them [Bbm] via music, [Ebm] _ _ that is something [Ab] I very [Db] personally relate to in a sense [Bbm] of
music connects us all _ [Ab]
and [Ebm] there's [Ab] something about it being a universal language.
My favourite lyric actually comes in one of the songs I [Bbm] sing in All I Ask of You.

Raoul says, let me be your [Fm] freedom and I just [Ab] think that's such a [Db] poetic way of asking to
be a part of someone's life to [Gb] say that the two of us together are better than we [Ab] are apart.
[Db] Very romantic. _
_ The [Abm] cast of this particular tour [Bb] is truly _ multinational and [E] because we all have different
[N] backgrounds and different work ethics, you are made to be better.
