[Em] That's why you're doing it buddy, and I'm in [A#] oh man.
[B] Hey get it to the beginning.
I'm [N] trying ah
[A] [F#] There you go.
There's been a while since a cute up an album
[A] [E] Anyways
This is the song that started all huh, I guess it is yes.
It is
Which there's [D] a singer on it now I wrote this I wrote this when I was in college a few years [E] before I met Johnny and
Demoed it myself and some few years later, and I moved to Toronto
We joined honeymoon suite and we were a bar band and that we're doing six-nighters and whatnot and
We wanted to be an original band so I had a couple of rich knows that played him for Johnny
And [F#] he really liked this one and a couple others and so he started sneaking him into the [E] end of the set
With the with the Billy Idol [D] and the flock of seagulls that we had to play and
[E] It's just kind of you know.
That's [A] the songs that we told the owners
[E] That we didn't play that got us fired
But as long as we could get up on those days or 45 minute [A] sets right we [E] could make it through the first 45
then
the crowds would stay
so
[D]
We we ended up demoing the song I think we [E] played in Elliot Lake
Forget that on a Saturday night
[A] And we drove all night
And we [Em] got up Sunday morning and went to our producers house and [E] recorded this song in his basement along with face-to-face and funny business
burnt right out and we we entered it in a contest and it won a contest and
got on on the local radio and
[F#] We ended up long story [E] short.
We ended up getting our record deal.
Yeah, we had [D] demo
We had different [Am] record companies come out and [E] see our band
We had developed a following [D] not like a [A] following that sounds sort of [E] silly we developed [D] a crowd, you know [A] people liked our band [E] It's cool
but yeah, this is [A] a
Well, we were always [E] doing originals on stage whether they were known or not when I first met dairy
I had a bunch of songs and dairy had [D] a bunch of songs in this like what is that?
I gotta sing that [A] and that's pretty much where [N] it started.
Yeah
as for the recording
We did this [E] at like I mean things just after we signed the deal we were just going [Cm] crazy
We were so [G#m] happy to be you know, all [G#] of a sudden a real band with with a record deal
They got us right in the studio was actually phase one
I'm sure [B] in Toronto and I think we went and cut [E] all the beds in like two weeks
[F#] Beds overdubs everything which is unheard of and I think the budget [Em] for that album was like 50 or 60 grand
I mean you're just banging it out That [E] energy
When you listen to this you can [A] hear that that that energy that we [Em] had and not here
[D#] There's a there's a [A] nervousness in the vocal [E] and one of the reasons for that is nowadays
It's all digital [A] right and it's like, okay do it again.
[E] Okay do it again
But in back [F#m] in those days here [A] was like [F#] the two inch two inch tape.
So [E] you're waiting as a vocalist waiting
Okay, okay.
Okay, so there's a nervousness in it and I [F#] hear it now.
[E] That's like
Totally cool.
Yeah [A] want to get it back.
[E] Yeah that two-inch tape back out.
Yeah, [D] I
Miss it.
I miss it greatly.
I had a lot of memories right there
[E] Yeah, and I think they even very sped it [B] up a little bit which [E] we're on a giant boy
Yeah, they did this that [A] very speed thing is [E] killing me to this day
Well, [D] well a chipmunk is because the tempos weren't exactly right and so they sped him up a little bit and that but if it
[E] Goes too far, but chipmunk Johnny, but it worked it worked.
Yes it did.
There you go
So it's been it's been a good song for us.
I'm good the first one
[Am] When [D] we played this song live
It created [Am] an [C] incredible vibe in the audience and when [D] we get to the guitar
So I'm not gonna talk because it's one of the best [Fm] guitar solos that you'll [G] ever hear
He walks [C] into the studio and he goes.
Hey guys
What's up, we said yo, we get ready to make this record and Rick goes, oh, you know what that's Aerosmith
You know who those guys [Cm] are and he was like,
[E] now
[Em] That's why you're doing it buddy, and I'm in [A#] oh man.
