[F] [C]
[Bb] Got you got a lot of vinyl
[C]
[F] this
[C] [Dm] It's interesting.
I [F] I I [G] love seeing the epic label
[F] And I remember when we we made this record
[Bb] Okay, and it was gonna [F] come out on Columbia, and I think being a you know [C] Bob Dylan freak and all these
[Bb] Bruce Springsteen at the Columbia label I thought damn
I really [F] wanted it on that red label, but [C] but then this I saw this and I [Bb] thought oh, that's just so
Just a [F] complete and utter dream come true
[G] And it's interesting we [Bb] made this record in Vancouver at mushroom studios
And it's funny.
[C] I've just completed a record at mushroom [Dm] studios.
How many?
[C] 19 [Bb] almost 30 years later.
I guess [G] close to that
and
[E]
we
[F] back then you know I just [C] made this record probably 10 days of recording and
[D] Back, then we [Bb] did six weeks.
It seemed like it was two [F] weeks before we'd even laid down a [C] note
and I very [D] distinctly remember [Bb] coming out the last night and
getting my cars [F] December night in Vancouver [C] rainy and
[Bb] Playing a cassette version of this song.
I thought oh
What [C] do we do we spend all this time?
I [Bb] don't I don't I can't understand this doesn't seem good
[F] Then I remember when I can't first time I heard on the radio
And I was it [C] was out at somebody's cottage [Bb] and now in the boat
Blasting from these speakers [F] at that high this could work
and it had that sort of [Dm] summertime feel and I've never [Bb] I've never gotten tired of [G] a
Listening to this song or [Gm] playing it
[Fm] In all its different iterations whether it's just [C] being a guitar with the [D] legendary hearts
[Bb] because [F] I
Don't know if they [C] don't want this to be corny
But I [Dm] I was so I had four young kids at the time
I [Bb] was about to quit [C] not because it [Dm] didn't I love music music is [G] my [Bb] passion
But I just felt I [Gm] couldn't do it.
We're we're we just had [C] no money and [Dm] we'd lived that way for so long and and
[G] [F] And this was the last-ditch attempt in this this all of a sudden
changed my life from being [C] just kind of a bar band [Bb] in Vancouver to being able to tour across the land and and
[F] Get get a chance to be acquainted to [G] this this this great
[F] Canada such a wonderful country I
[C] It's it's a song about [Am] [Bb] again, I was writing my good buddy [G] was writing
[B] lyrics [F] so
You know
Before records down down the road
I started writing lyrics myself because it was just something I really wanted to do
But this [C] this was a lyric that that [F] it was kind of tongue-in-cheek
it was there was a bit ironic about this guy who was living at home and and
Was
[C]
[Bb] Not [F] not really a character that you [Fm] you'd really [C] gravitate towards or would be any kind of hero [Dm] figure and
oddly enough it [Bb] just became it it seemed to [F] strike a different chord and
[G]
You know talk [Dm] or alluded to this before [Bb] you can't you another [F] example that you can't [C] determine
Predetermine how people are gonna view [Dm] what you're art [D] or [Bb] what they're gonna
What [F] they're gonna
How [C] they're gonna take it and so it just had this [Dm] kind of inspirational quality [F] and that was the music and it sort of embodied
[Em] In this this guitar solo.
I mean we [Dm] did something it was unusual
It was a long guitar solo and at the end and [F] and and still this [Em] day.
I just love playing it
I never get [Dm] tired of playing this song
[Bb] Which is which [F] is I guess a testament to it
[C]
[Dm] Wonderful
You know the producer of this record [F] was
[C] Crazy guy [Dm] he he just produced
[G] he'd he worked with with he did [F] Neruda with with [C] Tom Cochran one of my favorite [Dm] records and
Worked with Peter Gabriel and as a [C] young kid [F] ran
[D] Ringo Starrs studio, [Dm] but
Just [Ab] I'm running out of time
[G] It's a fade
[B] something to live for
[E] [Gbm] [C]
[Em] [B] [E]
[D] [A] [C] [G]
