[C] [Cm] This is Phil Harvey.
Join me as we ride first class to the music capitals of the world.
You'll meet world class [D] acts.
The ones on the way and [C] the ones already there.
On this Rock of the World we'll hear from those good old boys, the Outlaws.
Then we'll visit with Pat and Barbara McDonald who make up Timbuk3.
From there [G] we'll travel to Georgia and listen to the Georgia Satellites.
We'll also hear from Ben Orr and Iggy Pop as Rock of the World heads off cross [Bb] country.
Back [G] with more Rock of the World, I'm Phil Harvey.
Benjamin Orr has recently joined fellow car [Bb] Rick Okasik on the playlists of radio stations around the globe.
[Bb] That means more good music for Cars [C] fans.
Ben says he likes doing solo work but there's one key difference from his work with the Cars.
I had a lot more to do basically.
It was like constant 13 hour shifts in the [Eb] studio.
More or [Ab] less the other Cars albums I'd be there for [Bb] 3 or 4 hours a day.
Another difference is working with fiancee Diane Page.
I kept hearing this song coming up upstairs in the [C] studio and [Bb] one day he just said,
hey do you want to try writing lyrics with this song?
And I said sure.
And I said how will you know whether it's going to work or not?
And he said I'll know immediately.
It works, it works.
So we wrote Stay [Eb] the Night and it came very [N] easily and it was smooth and he seemed to like my work.
So we continued on from there.
I [Bb] don't realize it but Ben sings lead on almost half the Cars [E] songs.
We [G] started out with Just What I Needed.
That was the first one that I did.
And then [Eb] Moving in Stereo and All [Em] Mixed Up.
[B] Let's Go, After That [Bb] and [Ebm] various others.
Notable among those various [B] others is Drive.
[Ebm]
Got a phone call one [Abm] afternoon.
He said he'd like to meet me because [B] he was watching me do this number on [Eb] this [E] television show called Upbeat.
[Bb]
[A] And became friends after that and pretty much stuck together through the years.
[Gb]
[A] Too Hot to Stop.
Music by Ben Orr, lyrics by Diane [Gb] Page.
The couple likes working together [A] because they get to spend more time with each other.
I think it's [Bbm] made us respect each other in a new light.
[B] So it's added another dimension to the relationship.
Coming up [G] next, Iggy's
